This was the dad moment I never had and always wanted. Thanks for the help

On factory carbs there is a spring that goes between the butterfly shafts on the engine side. These are just friction fit on the shaft profile. Most folks lose the spring when the take the carb backing plate off. Most never mention this perhaps they don’t know or don’t see the value. I always make sure to reinstall.

Thanks. Couldn't figure out where that spring went.

Great set of vidz - thanks. I'm doing this now with a set of Mikuni's off my XS400. Waiting for new diaphragms and slides as well as re-build kits. Thanks again.

The guitar string he used looks like the high "E" string, which is the smallest diameter string. On an electric guitar, the common diameter is .009. An acoustic "E" is a little thicker, usually .012. I assume the diameter you use isn't as important as long as both carbs are set to the same diameter. Also, I believe the screw that adjusts how far the butterfly valves open up is called the governer. It regulates or "governs" how far it can move.

Very thorough video series, although it doesn't address the elephant in the room - the dreaded off-idle rich bog that occurs on CB360's after the bike is warmed up. This problem may be better or worse with an aftermarket exhaust. Can be overcome, but requires super tricky jetting.

I've got a megaphone exhaust fitted. Should i increase the secondary jet up to 70, as its popping on the overrun?

When he says, "that's good throttle action," at 3:98 ... After cleaning my carbs and reassembling them, the bike idles high, I'm thinking this may have something to do with it... What would cause it not to snap back? I recall it not initially snapping all that well, but eventually got better, so I thought it was fine. I'm just wondering if this could cause the bike to idle high... Grease the spring in-between the carbs that causes the tension? I'm going to trouble shoot air leaks, and all the other advice for this issue. But it is actually still sticky..

Not sure if anyone is reading this. But could it have to do with the carburetor throttle cable pulley rotor return spring? I'm assuming if this isn't working correctly, then the cables don't matter at all...... yet.

guitar strings come in different diameter. do you know which string you are using?
@CincyBDub6 жыл бұрын
Brad Castellano I don't think the size matters so much. It's more about finding a common diameter object to use on both carbs. I just wouldn't use one that is braided.

They are late model carbs and usually have two springs on idle adjuster cable (CJ carbs)

whats the thick black wire called and do you sell it in your store?

What size are your primary and secondary main jets? Everyone with the CB says #68 and 100, but the Honda shop manual says #68 for both.

Try it out and let us know! Never done it ourselves.

Hi Brenden. I wondered what idiot was telling people to use sealer on diaphragms. Trek97 told everyone what the problem is with carb tops and how to fix it.I notice you have idle adjuster spring missing and also throttle shaft spring is missing. Using guitar strings and sealer is not only a terrible idea, it can cause damage to diaphragms when you take carbs apart 'next time'
