Thanks brother. Just trying to help people with the stuff I wish my dad had been or been able to teach me before he passed. I learned a lot of stuff the wrong and hard ways.

Thanks Eric. Hopefully helps some new riders out. Not the first video on this, won't be the last, but I wanted to make one as true to the book as possible to give people the confidence they need to take this on themselves.

I enjoy doing it on my bikes once a year. Its good to spend some time really up close with the bikes to keep an eye on everything and spot any issues coming up (if any) right away.

Very helpful. Thanks for the video! Had a question though... My manual says to use 10W-30. Should I go with that or use 10W-40 like you did?

Hey Optix, double check the rest manual. Most manuals will give more than one oil rating. For example: "Between this temperature, and that temperature use ___ oil, but between this other temperature and that other temperature, use ___ oil instead." Usually there will be a table somewhere that will say this. As long as you're following what your manual recommends for the temperatures you'll do most of your riding in, I think you'll be just fine :)

You told people they can use any oil so long as it's the right viscosity. You should have made it clear it MUST be motorcycle wet clutch oil.

Dear, I would greatly appreciate it if you could explain to me the reduced power of the HondaCB500X. It should have 35kw, but mine has 25kw. This is what is written in the traffic license. The motorcycle was bought used in Switzerland. What is the mechanical procedure of restoring 35KW??? Thank you.

I don't know. I'm in Canada. If I were you I would find a Europe based cb500 group, maybe there is one on Facebook, and ask them. They will probably know better

what year was this bike? i just recently got a 2023 one and im wondering if the specs are different. still waiting on the service manual to arrive that i ordered.

Truthfully I can't remember, it's a customer's bike, but as far as I know, while certain components of the bike has changed (suspension etc.) the engine has remained unchanged, so you should be fine. If you ordered the service manual anyway please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong so we can let others know.

I don't have any customers with that bike so I've never looked for it, sorry. I would ask in the CB1000R forum. If anyone would know where to point you in the right direction, it would be those guys!

I guess it recommends to change oil every 1000km or what ever number of months comes first?

Every 1000? No definitely not. The manual says every 12,000 km (8,000 miles) or every year, whichever comes first.

I like how you can do it yourself with the ninja. So many reservoirs with my Harley. Yup looks similar except all I need is a 17 mm and I can get everything from a local auto parts store

Oh, I see. Most every bike is like this. I have oil change videos on both Italian and German bikes, same thing. Heck, I have oil change videos on the Sportster and V-Rod and they're normal like this. Big Twins do things weird.

Thanks mate, just wanted to check in.. According to the manual, you do not need to change oil and filter together, the schedule calls for an alternation.. Thus, many of us have been lead to believe that you change both oil and filter at the same time. What is your opinion on changing both oil and filter at the same time? Cheers mate.

Oil filters are cheap and I'm doing 90% of the job anyway. All it costs me is an extra $10 and 5 minutes of my time. For that I get peace of mind in knowing I've gotten ALL of the old oil out, and I don't have to wonder about whether or not I replaced the filter last time, or if I need to do it this time. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on motorcycle insurance that I've never used, never had an accident/claim/theft/etc. Spending $10 on an oil filter is a lot better insurance for your motorcycle as far as value goes.
