The intermal microphone I was using from the Garmin Virb Ultra 30 which is mounted to the handlebar picked up the sounds of the bike maybe a bit too harsh. From a rider's point of view it is not that extreme or maybe I am just getting old :)

Hmmm ... I can't see from the placement of your add on's where your shift point is on the rev meter. It seems when you get closer to speed (above 4000 rpm) the sound quieted down. We use a term 'lugging' for when you let the revs get too low and it begins to feel grabby and makes noise. I realize this is a fresh bike but ... if you've gone through a few heating and cooling cycles, you could use 4500 to 5000 rpm as a shift point and things will feel as if it is all smooth and working the way it should. I have ridden a few bikes with the slipper clutch and that seems to require a regular higher rev to work smoothly. This particular bike has a very usable torque range between 4500 and 7000 rpm and is a very smooth running bike for light touring and even commuting. That's why I got one. From Wisconsin (north central USA) ... waiting for it to stop snowing.

Good afternoon Mr . Benalrida! As I told you, I'm waiting for that motorcycle to come to Brazil ... but Honda Brazil is a little bit late...😒about one year late ... And now I got a little bit worried . Did you discover the reason for that noise ?

Well, hopefully the source of the noise was determined. I am not totally sure. Need to further check it. Watch my video coming out this Monday for more :)

My 2016 model 500X developed a whine only after clocking up 53,000 Km. Whine happens above 60 Kmh. Has also become more vibey. I've found the only way to avoid clunk when shifting gears is to use slight pressure with the tip of my toe, (not where the toe joins the foot), and to back off the throttle an instant before pulling the clutch. Otherwise it's clunk, clunk, clunk. Similar with down-shifting - very light pressure on the top of the gear lever with the tip of my toe, and begin to blip the throttle just before pulling the clutch. Changes can be buttery smooth using that method. Oh, I wear fairly stiff boots for protection, so that makes finessing pressures more of a challenge. I found shifting smoother when I wore some older, softer boots that have more feel.

Hi Paco, please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/envKenqio9eZaac This is after they have put an o-ring underneath this plastic cap, which I think is responsible for the noise. I am not 100% sure, if it's gone since I haven't been on the bike much.

What is the mileage? My Honda has now done 60 miles from new and does not sound like this. Also your gear change is very clunky on your upshift and downshift. I guess like myself you are running it in so everything has to be timed well smooth and gentle right?
@BenalRida5 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes, "clunky" I noticed on my testride as well. Kawasaki did not sound like that. If it is me, what am I doing wrong? I let go of the gas, disengage the clutch, put the gear in and engage clutch. I have now 1000 km and just went to the first service. They changed the oil and filter and also changed the clutch lever. They said it caused vibrations which I heard, if I understood them correctly with my bad Spanish :) Thanks for your comment and thoughts on this.

No, the chirping noise that can be heard. It's sounds more like a vibration of plastics. It is also audible when standing still and revving the engine a little bit.

Alle diese sind bei mir Erfahrungssachen) Kettenpannung und Schmieren alle 500 km kontrollieren und behandeln, das gehört noch dazu.

Always hard to try and show a problem sound on video, compared to real life. But i think its possible that you have have the same rattle issue that i have on my CB5X. The sound on mine seems to disappear when accelerating, but when decelerating with throttle backed off the metallic rattle sound is very noticeable. I think clutch is the most likely suspect, especially as this is the first time assist/slipper has been fitted to this bike, so possible teething probs to be corrected. Mine is booked in on wednesday, so wont know for certain til then. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

I also told Honda about my lose throttle handle and they said it's normal. I expect them to say the noise is normal, too :( Please keep me posted about your problem.

@@BenalRida Will do. I shall also be getting another CB5X as a courtesy bike while they have mine, so i'll be interested to see what this one sounds like.
@BenalRida5 жыл бұрын
@@moto-jeff Yes, they gave me a CB500X courtesy bike as well, and I can it hear it slighty there as well. When recording on my GoPro I usually cannot hear the noise, only when the mic or the camera (Garmin in my case) sits close to the front.

Just an update.... The courtesy bike i had, had the same sort of noise as mine, although it wasn't as loud as mine. So they checked my bike and told me they looked at the clutch and retorqued the assembly. I now have it back and the rattle doesn't seem as bad now, but it is still noticeable. My dealer says that this cb500 engine is noisier now, since they fitted a slipper clutch to it. But at least i know the clutch has been checked inside the engine and no problems were found. I'll have to see whether it gets unusually noisy again.
@BenalRida5 жыл бұрын
@@moto-jeff Hi Jeff, I just had an update from another viewer and at Honda they found the rattling noise to be the silver plastic cap which is covering the middle of the fork. That sounds logical and I think this might be the same with me. Also my courtesy also had a noise like this. They changed my left clutch lever, but the noise is still there, soooo I think the plastic cap could be it. Sounds like plastic rattling. What do you think?

I"m hearing a more pronouncing vibration/rattling sound at precisely 3150 and 3200 rpms ( which ends up at 39 and 40 mph at 6th gear). I don't recall if this is normal...stock. I installed a t-rex racing 2013-2020 engine crash bar set within 3 weeks ago or less and I don't recall if this sound started then or if it was always there. I hear an extra treble of vibration/rattling often. I notice when I push INWARD on my left fairing ( I have the same bike btw 2019 cb500x...stock) while riding, that extra vibration/rattle seems to stop, but its hard to pick it out though. I've tried tightening the alley key bolt/screw where it's right near the gas tank fill port, but that did nothing. Ideas?

Its due to the crash bar. Mine too will rattle. But once u accelerate wont borther u any longer. The rattle sound came from some where near the tank

You got to start blipping the throttle on your down changes of gear it will be smother and less wear on the gearbox 😎

Hello, I just got back from my 1000 km service. I told them about the noise and they changed the clutch lever. As I understood her, it was vibrating. So maybe you can tell your dealer in advance. I am not sure if it's gone, but so far I haven't heard anything. More in my next video :)

@@BenalRida Thanks for the tip :) i do not think its the lever with my bike. Because when i compress the lever and add some throttle the problem is still there.

Yes, my 2021 does the same thing (has same noise) I figure it is cam chain noise OR it's the high tolerance cam to valve bucket shim clearance on these bikes. Honda sets them high (wide) out of the factory so the valve adjustment intervals are much greater giving the bike a much lower overall maintenance cost which is one of the Honda selling points for this bike.
