Thanks for the video. I bought a new CB550 from the show floor in 1975. It was my first "big bike." It was not as popular as the 750 or Kaw 900 but hundreds of dollars less. Great commuting and touring bike. I would love to have another but at my age I cannot accumulate anymore toys. Maybe if I ever find a $100 bike to rescue. Another very popular Honda that came out a couple of years later is the CB400F, the first Honda Super Sport. I think they sold many more of them than the 350, 500 or 550 Fours. I usually rode next to my friend on a Suzuki 550 two stroke. I would love to have one of those today too. Not very environmental friendly but what fun? I should make a hobby of rescuing 1970s motorcycles. Thanks again for the inspiration.

look up carburetor keith on ebay sometime and check out his carbs. He powder coats the bodies giving them a different look. also have you ever run a custom airbox instead of pods? cognitio moto makes one (probably expensive af) but its a cool look

nice and clean - if you were going to do something similar with an older 750 (that has an oil reservoir) would you try to remove it or just leave it as is and work 'around' it? I've seen a wet sump conversion but it looks like a lot of effort/expense for what it is - appreciate any thoughts and keep the tutorials coming! very useful.

Hi Taylor, I was wondering Why don’t the bike makers put air filter pods on the bikes rather than the air filters? I guess the filters are better But then this means the pods aren’t optimal... So what are the problems we could encounter with pods? Rain? Dirt? Are there pods covers? Will that restrict the air flow, and is that bad? Thanks!

The bike looks great and I would be proud to own it. I live on a road that is partially gravel and the lack of fenders would be a problem. Are fenders really that "uncool" on a bike like this? Also, passenger peg, but no chain guard? You could paint it flat black and it would sort of disappear. If the better half's shoe laces got caught in the chain, I'd never hear the end of it. LOL. Great ride though and love the channel!

I have a 1984 Honda Nighthawk 650. I was riding about a week ago and noticed clicking near the valves. The clicking only happened when the throttle was opened a little or a lot. I was on my way home and after about a block the bike died. Do you have any idea what it could be? I want to get to work on it ASAP but don't know where to start. Again, the clicking sounded like a chain or something near the valves... Had to push her home. Thanks!

@Classic Octane, Taylor, I noticed you run pod filters on most of your builds. Ever have any issues with them? People on the forums keep telling me to stick with the stock airbox ... I'm at a point where I need to buy the right jets based on whether or not I go with pods or stock airbox. So if you can give me a shout it would be super appreciated. I need the advice from someone who has worked on multiple setups, such as yourself. The pods seems easier to install than this hugs airbox.

Damn I love the bikes you build. So simple and beautiful. How do you fit those LED strips into the frame? What do you use to cut it out?
@ClassicOctane4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For the LED strip I find the center of the tube, measure out where I want the opening, then drill a hole on the outside edges. I then use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut between them.

I cringe about the lack of mudguards - I'm from the UK - makes it a fair weather only bike otherwise you'll be always cleaning dirt from the engine and air filters. The lack of chain guard worries me though - no regulations in Texas for chain guards? Seems that it's a safely issue.
