In this chapter, we have all gearbox bearings sorted and refit it to the lower case for a dry run. All looks good… kinda… then I discover a silly mistake before achieving a happy ending.
Hope you enjoy,
Peter

Putting a bearing in the freezer will absolutely not alter it metallurgically.

Did you ever get the impression that the government no longer works for our benefit? It's becoming more apparent to me that they don't want us to drive any longer. It's highway robbery too, here in Nova Scotia, Canada. Peter about those chains: Change them as well, 1.5 mm stretch can happen quicker than you think. If those clutch springs are too hard for you, heat them for a time and soften them up yourself. You can always easily change them out later if you're not satisfied.

Har har silly mistake yes I had the same problem, the drum moving in and out. Next I did question the spacer tubes in the springs and the two different lengths, short one for the neutral arm spring ok good. Thanks for the Video.

Great video Peter. You taught me how to get organised when I first started my mini resto and it made things soooo much easier. After you finish the CB I will have a go at refurbishing a spare gearbox. Thank you for all the skills you have passed on. 🚙

Rego here in Victoria is highway robbery, $800, went up from about $781 last year, just a for a humble stock standard VY Commodore Executive sedan.

sp19822 Dam right. I couldn't afford the rego on my XJ900 and car every year. So the bike had to go. Rego on the bike was just as much as the car. Total rip off.

at 19:08 the crankshaft bearing oil holes don't have oil galleries behind them, are they the other side's bearings?

Cool vid. I'm curious. When you register your vehicles,is that for the duration of the ownership or do you pay to renew every year like we do here in the U.S.? I always wondered why so many cars in your part of the world were 4 doors,but I think it was you that told me that 2 door cars are really expensive to insure.Thanks for posting.

Yes, disgusting... they aligned it with the CPI... But, you can run 4 classic cars/bikes (25yrs or older) on 90 day permits cheaper than the cost of one vehicle registration. It just means that you're off the road 5 days of the year.

How did Australia become such a socialist pit with slave level taxation? As Americans we tend to think of Australians being pretty much like us; cousins if not brothers. I have often thought I would love to migrate there. Seems I can't afford it. Very sad.
@Mercmad

While peters page aint the place to get into politics the whole taxation thing went mental here when the socialist labor were elected. Think of them like democrats gone crazy. I remember a time in OZ when we paid little tax , everything was affordable and Joe average had a pocketful of cash. .But as Maggie Thatcher said, "socialism only works until you run out of other peoples money" back to the topic.......

Yeah. I didn't mean to get political. He's such a gentle, soft spoken guy and I love his videos on the 750. I was just stunned that it would cost $800 to register a motorcycle. With some hard shopping I could buy an old bike like that for less than $800 here in America. Liberal is one thing but that kind of taxation? Whoa. I guess I sort of knew it was that bad from watching Mighty Car Mods but still. . .

We are slowly getting 2JZ engines and tranmissions over here. At least I just noticed this happening in the last year or so. I wonder what a container of bikes would cost to have shipped here. I am going to find out. Mint condition CB350s and 550s are knocking on $3,000 now. 750s would go for more. In the right market. But it still possible to find these things in a shed or at an estate sale for $500 or less. Much less in the right situation.
