did you replace the little rubber rings on the caliper bolts or did you not think it was necessary?

This video helped me so much! The only thing I guess I would add would be to get brake lubricant to the backs (non braking contact surface) of the brake pads and the pins that hold the pads. I’m concerned I didn’t lube the two guide bolts that hold the entire caliper together enough, but they seem to be moving OK. My outside brake pad also has a shim. I just want to reiterate that this video was the best for rebuilding my caliper after powdercoating; I must have watched it 100 times while doing it. Thanks a million (unless I die)!

I wonder why the Clymer manual says this is so hard they don’t even offer instructions for it… maybe it’s getting the piston out. I’ve seen two other videos on getting it out. One used compressed air (I don’t have it, though every day I wish I did… hmmm) and the other uses the master cylinder to push it out, which is the method I plan to use this week. Guess we’ll find out! Great video that gave me confidence to say “screw the manual” and go for it on my 81 CB750K! Cheers!

using rubber grease for caliper slide bolts?

The rebuild kit came with grease for all the rubber parts.

500 lb bike would be less than 250 lbs on front tire. With your 180 lbs = less than 340 lbs on the front tire (250 + 90). I’d guess around 300. Most of the weight would be at the rear tire.

Hahaha I googled that after he said that because I thought I might be in trouble with my CB750K. Yeah, I found that the rating is per tire distributed between the two tires for the entire weight of the bike, not max weight of the entire bike. Sort of seemed obvious, but worth doing the research when one’s life is riding on the things (not to mention after my rebuild, the last thing I’ll want to do is change my fuc#ing brand new tires any time soon). Great video though!

That's true but you also have to consider that most of the weight shifts to one tire depending on whether you're hard braking or accelerating. I'm sure it would be fine but I wouldn't take my chances personally.
