This video features the Honda Comstar Wheel & Brake Rotors and how to restore them to look new again. It mainly focuses on the early 1979 silver, or billet Aluminum wheels & Brake Rotors. These wheels & Rotors normally show signs of wear and tear with white spots, scratches, chips and corrosion that is very difficult to remove and restore to look like they did when they were new. This video will show a step by step method or procedure on how to restore that new look again.
Please enjoy the entire Video series presented by Peter Rose, digitalpizza.com on the Frame off Restoration Process of classic Japanese motorcycles and classic American muscle cars including Honda CB 750, Honda CBX, CB1100F, CB900F and 1969 Camaro Z/28

Thanks for the video, picked up a pair of 30 year old CBR 600 wheels that need exactly what you have just illustrated.

For the rear rotor, what are your thoughts on keeping it on the bike (R1200gs), start it on it's center stand locked down and running it in 1st gear with the wheel off. This way it'll turn at low idle speed and you can put a piece of "blocked" sandpaper on the rotor and let it turn until resurfaced. You could "grit down" and then finish with steel wool. Thoughts sir? Thanks for your video.

Hi Matt, Yes, that totally works and a really great way to clean it up. Of coarse if the painted portion needs to be refreshed, then you would still have to remove the rotor, but you could still clean it up with your method. Thanks a lot for the comment, it helps everyone :)

Just wondering.... those discs look a lot like the DOHC CB750K versions. Do you have specs to compare. I have a bundle of the K model discs if you are in need and they will match.

I am pretty sure they are same on the F bikes that year, and they are probably the same on the K bikes. I have a few myself as well, but if I am ever in the need, I will let you know. Thanks Ray

Why not take it to a machine shop and have it properly turned? That way you won’t have any pulsing of the brakes. I’d love to find an intact early model CBX to restore but they are super rare.

Hi fw, all I am doing to clean these up is using a Scotch Brite pad, so the steel isn't affected at all. Just removing the tarnish & any surface rust. I choose not to have them turned because these discs are very thin to begin with and are not warped. I have done many of these with this method and have never had a pulsating problem. But I agree, if the disc is warped at all, then I would replace it with one that isn't warped. I feel they are way to thin to turn them. I don't think I have ever seen one these discs warped. That is not to say that there aren't any, but I think it's rare. It is probably do to the fact that motorcycle discs are right out in the open and don't get as hot as car discs do.
