Diesel fuel also works great for honing cylinders. It provides just enough lubrication while still letting the hone do its job. Washes out the crud pretty well too.

Hi Kaden, yes, diesel works, but has a very strong foul odor and is not water soluble. Solvent works great, smells nice and is water soluble. much more user friendly and has been the best choice with mechanic shops for a long time. But that is just my choice, there are many methods of cleaning engine parts. Thanks Kaden :)

Great to see videos again. How do you determine whether you do a bottom end or not.
@digitalpizza14 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I usually base it on whether I am familiar with the engine prior to the rebuild. i.e., I know the history of the bike, or had a chance to ride or hear the engine running, or was able to analyze the engine running before the build. Honda transmissions are pretty bullet proof, so if the bike has relatively low miles and looks clean inside, and no leaks from the cases, then chances are, its probably ok not to split the cases.

Great job as usual sir. Just seen a picture of a brand new mordern CBX from Honda! Will it be released?! If so, I'm ordering one.

Unfortunately it's unlikely. Lots of people make renders of modernized retro bikes for fun and sometimes they look a little too convincing. I agree a modern CBX would be awesome!

Which machine shop are you using to recondition the head?
@digitalpizza14 жыл бұрын
Hi Trygve, I use a machine shop near my shop. I am sure you can find a good machine shop near you that does head work. Just call around and ask them if they do motorcycle heads. You will have to provide the valve seals to them as well as any valves that need replacing. I hope this helps. Thanks Trygve.

No way... This type of honning is the worst setup for how to do it... Why did you not take it to specialist to get it honned by machine?!
@digitalpizza14 жыл бұрын
This type of honing is only used to remove the glazing on the cylinder walls , not to bore them. I agree that if they would have needed to be bored, then they would have been done at the machine shop
