I have driven across South India on my City 5th gen petrol manual. Hell of a car! Been to hills and roads with big potholes, slush, loose gravel etc. While the engine under guard do touch the surface sometimes, no other damage to the car. The only place I lost traction was in steep sandy patch with wet grass. Brilliant overall.

It is not, in my opinion. Many other cars has same ground clearance as City. A little caution and care while driving is all that’s needed.

None of these patches really challenged the ground clearance, except at 03:15, which many hatch backs could have handled more easily than the city.

@@MisterBongo I am planning to buy a new car. I wish I can buy Honda City 5 gen. But I am slightly apprehensive about its ground clearance and safety rating? Alternatively I have options from Kushaq and already pre booked grand vitara mild hybrid. What do you advice. To be run in himachal city and highway both about 10k per year for daily use. I am a professional self employed. What do you advice??? I value safety, style and brand value. Will it be compatible with 20 percent ethanol petrol I can go with XUV 300 too.
@MisterBongo2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gaurav, I don’t know where in HP you’re put up. I strongly believe City can handle 95% of Indian roads with ease and comfort. To me, the challenge is more with its length than the ground clearance. Please analyse how easily you can turn the car in a tight space. If this is sorted, your experience will be amazing. Also it has been recently rated 4 in GNCAP safety rating. If I were in your place, I would consider Grand Vitara mild hybrid from the list, test drive both City and Grand Vitara and take a call. Won’t consider Kushaq (limited service opportunities) and XUV300 (limited boot space). Hope this helps. :)
@secureyourfuture012 жыл бұрын
@@MisterBongo thanks. That had insight. I should worry about length. Vitara is nice but delivery times are very bad. Are these cars suitable with ethanol 20 percent blending Okay thanks for input
@MisterBongo2 жыл бұрын
I think at this point all petrol cars support upto 10% ethanol. E20 fuel is a couple of years down the line, so it would be interesting to see how the government, the oil companies and the automobile companies come to an agreement on how to handle the situation and what to do with the old engines which are technically “fit” to run on Indian roads.

Try HIDs in projector headlamps, trust me it will completely change the look of your car, but you will need to adjust it for best throw

Hey Samridh, I am planning to upgrade the headlights because the OEM headlight throw is too low I feel. Do you have any good recommendations?
@samridhtiwari80442 жыл бұрын
@@MisterBongo I have installed excelsior's HIDs, these are just amazing and matches the color with DRLs, you can also try Osram, they are cheap and effective, also for looks only I will suggest LEDs for high beams but some cheap aftermarket LEDs are too bright and can blind everyone in front of you, so from a safety perspective, I will not suggest to use it

Hi we are planning to buy Honda city zx cvt, there is lot of negativity about it like headlights flicker fog lamps not powerful, small wheel profile, ground clearance and lastly Honda might leave Indian market just like Ford and GM as you have a Honda city what’s yours take to these concerns.
@MisterBongo Жыл бұрын
Hey let me answer your questions one at a time: 1. Honda isn’t leaving India. It is completely a speculation and they even gave out a press note about the same few months back. In fact they have plans to introduce new cars in the market 2. The ground clearance is sufficient for 90% of the Indian roads and it would not break a sweat unless you go to say Spiti or Zanskar. 3. The wheel profile is a personal choice. I’m happy with the stock wheels but you can always upgrade to 195/55 section tyres available in the market. Remember this might impact the overall drive quality and fuel efficiency. I’m not sure about the headlight flicker since ZX has different headlights from the VX which I own. Hope this helps!

Hey Rajat, it touched the underbody once in slushy conditions. Creta has its own advantage in these conditions especially on the ground clearance side of things. City is my pick overall.

Great work bro. Learned a lot from ur video. Im totally confused , Pls suggest between petrol city V MT or Slavia ambition MT . Want to buy in December 2022 due to good offers, for City they r giving 60000 and for slavia almost 80000 rs. (Including exchange bonus). Slavia I liked for its solid build, fresh exterior looks, high GC, upmarket interiors, sound, steering feedback For city I liked overall looks,smooth driving, reliability, lower service costs, NVH levels. Usage : 1500 km per month 80% city usage 20% highway ( but 20% overall on bad roads concerned about GC)also 1000 kms trip every year...
@MisterBongo Жыл бұрын
Thank you buddy! I’d say take test drive of both cars and decide. Slavia would be better in driving dynamics plus it has a great design and interiors. However City has proven its mettle for decades and is pretty equivalent to peace of mind and reliability. All the best and do let me know what you book! :)

Should one go for Honda City if he wants the car for a family of 5 with luggage car for hills of Himachal and uttrakhand .frequently traveling on these Roads for holidays in seasons. My question is based more towards ground clearance. I m an ex duster owner driven for 2lakh+ km so really concerned about the ground clearance. Ladhak and spiti are definitely on the to do list after the purchase. Please guide
@MisterBongo Жыл бұрын
@THS7: Power shouldn’t be an issue in the hills. However it definitely helps to have a higher GC and visibility of what lies ahead in places like Ladakh and Spiti. With a longer bonnet, that might be a challenge in these places. So if you are someone who frequents these places with a family of 5, I’d advise against the City. Please exercise your judgment on the highway to hills ratio for your usage and then decide on your purchase. Hope this helps! :)

Biggest USP of City 4th gen in water crossing is, its air intake is above the radiator grill, not like many Germans which is very lower down !! Another Advantage of 4th gen is, its stiff suspension (not 5th), won't hit the speed breakers on bounce back effect. If you know road incline well and can reduce the vehicle speed to the minimum, u are qualified to drive a sedan !! When I learned about Honda S2000 & Honda Integra type-R, the moment I became a "Honda fan" People simply fantasize about SUVs thinking that it can climb a tree ....ha ha, but they often forget that, a human can do it with ease !! If a car can't go further, park it safely and just walk forward or return home. What the hell u gain by fetching a car on a mountain top after all those carbon emissions ? Are you gone to dwell there ?? if so , then buy a proper body on frame one with at least rear wheel drive. Sedans are for
