Great video, thanks. 2007 Honda Civic, I was able to slip the old fan out and the new one in without having to remove the metal bar. I only had to remove the plastic 'bar' that you removed first and was able to get to the bolts on the fan. Only two bolts. Took 20 minutes.

ATTENTION You do not need to take off anything except for two bolts on the fan itself! It's a tight fit but it can be slid out and the new one dropped in without taking any bolts off except for the two 10 mm hex bolts on the fan itself at the top. Also the new fan that he recommends in the description does not come with bolts and because the fan is plastic body it is thicker than the previous metal body. You need new bolts. I'm going right now to local hardware store to get same size bolts but a quarter inch more length

Hi big dog, thank you so much for the video 😃 The new fan replacement is a plastic body and it requires longer bolts. Do you still recommend that fan being that it now has a plastic body instead of metal? Thank you.
@brettdrt16 ай бұрын
Most of these steps aren't necessary. If you're only replacing the condenser fan it can be pulled out without removing the battery, cross member, etc.. Two 10mm bolts at the top of the fan need are all that needs to be removed. The fan will pull out with a little finagling, and the new fan will go in the same way. Just replaced the condenser fan on my son's 2011 Civic, took about 15 minutes. If you need to replace the radiator fan as well, all these steps are necessary.

If you guys are gonna use the exact link for the fan replacement, keep in mind that the OE screws won’t fit & you will probably need to go to autozone to get a bit bigger 10mm bolt. there is also no mount for the wiring for the fan as well.

A/C diagnosis can be difficult sometimes. A dirty or restricted condenser, low refrigerant or a compressor clutch relay that is stuck on can all cause poor cooling performance like you describe (among other things). Thanks for the comment!

What year is that car? some guy told me i didnt have to remove plastic cover but to remove two screws of bad fan, and unplug a cable or two and slip fan out and slip in new fan. But it appeared to me, that a metal part where fan is might mean having to remove perhaps cover and somethin else. What about when disconnect cables, might it offset relay switch signal code? Would not know how to reset that if at all that exists.

I have a 2010 Civic Coupe 1.8L and the engine takes a while to warm up when its little cold outside. I live in Atlanta so the temperatures are not too low. Any suggestions? Could it be a stuck open thermostat? Car has 101k miles.
@BigDog500015 жыл бұрын
It is possible it is a thermostat issue, very common for them to fail on these Civics. It can set a check engine light (P0128) if it gets bad enough. I will usually look at both ECT 1 and ECT 2 sensor data PIDs on a Honda capable scan tool to verify thermostat operation.

Hey bigdog. i got a 2006 civic 1.8. when the ac is on and the fan kicks on, my engine briefly stumbles. i can't afford to take it to the dealer any ideas what it could be? AC blows cold no issues with that. Engine is perfect when the ac is off. I'd greatly appreciate your input on what i should check because I live in Vegas and i'm a delivery driver so i really need my car and my AC, thanks.
@BigDog500014 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it could be a few things, the idle may need to be relearned (PCM needs to be reset to do that) or there could be a problem with engine computer software being too slow to respond to electrical loads (an update was made available to correct brief idle vibrations on those Civics). There could also be issues with the A/C system and the list goes on.

Hi Big Dog50001. I'm new to your channel and appreciate your video here. I'm interested in viewing your "diagnosis" video you mentioned because I have a 2006 Honda Civic that my son bought and without A/C several years ago. I'm hoping all I need is a condenser and if I do, I will be purchasing "through" your channel and Amazon delivery. You bet. I'm also interested in replacing the rear mirror (by front windshield) and how to replace the interior roof lining that is now falling down, terribly. Ugh. Thank you for your time and assistance. ***If you also sell the above items mentioned, please provide a link as I'd like to thank you for your time in helping us out***

Question: My 2008 civic only vibrates at idle when the A/C compressor cuts-in. Engine mounts were new and no vibrations at all as long the A/C clutch do not cut in. What could be the issue?
@BigDog500014 жыл бұрын
I would have to see what is happening but sometimes the engine computer needs to re-learn the idle (involves resetting the PCM and then learning the idle again), especially after certain repair procedures are done. Also, some of those older Civics had issues with the idle when certain electrical loads were placed on it (not necessarily the A/C compressor). The engine computer was slow (or unable to) respond to those loads and the idle was effected. The fix was to have engine computer reprogrammed with updated software. It could also be an A/C problem (bad compressor or overcharged system) and it is putting too much load on engine.

Hey so I checked the ac condenser relay and the relay for the radiator fan and they’re good but for some reason my condenser fan won’t turn on still and I replaced it with a new TYC fan? What others fuses or relays do I need to check
@Jonathan-pr1wo4 жыл бұрын
Nevermind I got it fixed it was a bad fuse, would have been an easy fix if I had just checked all the fuses instead of replacing the fan with a new one, at least I won’t have to repair this for a long time.
@BigDog500014 жыл бұрын
Good to hear you got it fixed, but just remember something blew that fuse, they typically do not just blow on their own. There is a good chance the old fan was the problem. If the fuse blows again you will need to find out why it keeps blowing.
@Jonathan-pr1wo4 жыл бұрын
Big Dog50001 Automotive thanks I was wondering the same but glad I just replaced the old oem fan with a new tyc fan. I’m not sure how long this fan was not working for since I never really checked it since I got no check engine light code for it.

Could you have removed the fan from underneath?
@BigDog500015 жыл бұрын
It would be very close, I have not measure it to see if there is enough room. The plastic shield on the bottom would need to be removed if it is tried that way, and all of the plastic clips on the shield would likely be broken during replacement. If I had a 2 post lift I might try it that way, but without one I won't try it because I don't like working on my back if I don't have to.
