Great video. Glad you kept in the part where you broke the sensor. Helps others to be more careful when they see something break not just to be told to be careful that it could break. Quick and very helpful. Appreciate you talking very understandably through the job.

Good to know. I got ripped off too many times . Learned how to fix and maintain my vehicles using haynes and chiltons manuals. Then came the internet and KZbin. Watching all the how to videos am now able to remove an engine, transmission , replace clutches etc. The only drawback is the newer vehicles electronic stuff getting too complicated. I keep my vehicles till the wheels fall off

Hello. Yes, I do the same! This car has 260,000 and the wheels were literally about to fall off. But it should be good for another 100k I’m hoping. I learned mechanics the same way then got my masters at youtube university. No more getting ripped off as you say. Thanks for the comment!

This is the second video I've seen where the wheel hub assembly "just falls out". Unbelievable. For a 2013 Civic EX with only 90k miles, I spent the better part of 20+ minutes using a chisel and a 5lb slide hammer. Not looking forward to doing the rear right :-( BTW, nice video. Well presented.

Wow... that’s crazy! Yes, both sides just “fell out.” And I live in Nebraska where road salt is a common occurrence thus corrosion is real. Hope the other side is better for you. Best of luck!

@@FastFixKZbin Yes, the right rear came out with 3 tugs with the 5lb slide hammer. Never once had to chisel the seam. What a difference. About 2 hours to fully change the right rear wheel bearing (and new rotors and pads) compared to almost a full day for the left rear. Again, thanks for posting this vid. It's videos like this that give us occasional wrench turners the confidence to do the job ourselves.

Mathew Jacobsen it’s comments like these that keep the world turning amongst the depravity of society as it falls into the abyss of toxic group think and forthright tribalism. Please allow me to offer my thanks and admiration at the bravery you’ve shown in expressing how this video has made you feel on a public forum. May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face. And may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

Great video, Do you have to take out the speed sensor? It doesn't seem like it will prevent the hub from being removed
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
I’d say removing it is a good best practice, but you may be able to get away with not removing it. I’m not sure if leaving it would be prohibitive when removing the hub. This sensor was stuck in there pretty good, but in my experience they usually come out easier. Best of luck.

Great video. I've watched another video and the speed sensor wasn't removed. Does this need to be removed to replace the wheel bearing?
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. It was my impression that the speed sensor did need to be removed, but I’ve heard from a few folks that it does not. I’d say just leave it and see if the hub comes out. If you feel it hanging up or have a difficult time removing it, maybe then remove the sensor. I don’t have a schematic of how the speed sensor and hub fit together, but my intuition is that they shouldn’t come into contact at all. I think you’re safe leaving it in place. You can always remove it if there are any issues. Hope this helps.

Should most hub assemblies just pop off like that or with some makes and models would some type of puller be needed?
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube Жыл бұрын
Ehh, hard to say. If they’re rusted on, you may need a puller, but I’d say “usually” not.

Is this brand as good as oem i hate buying cheap parts and having to pay more over time. I bought cheap bearings before and had to change them sooner than an oem
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had good luck with TRQ parts. These bearings seemed well made, but I doubt they’re OEM quality. I’m sure they’ll last 100k or more. I share your opinion on quality parts, it also take into consideration expected life of the vehicle. This Honda can’t be alive for much longer with 260,000 miles…but it is a Honda so maybe.

Why no brake grease on ends of pads ?
@FastFixYouTube

I do apply grease on the ends of the pads when I do a brake job, but because I used the same pads, they were already greased. Although, they probably could’ve used a refresh. Good point. 👍

What were the symptoms? my shit is whining when pressing the gas pedal going over 40+ MPH.
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what my symptoms were. I thought it was the front bearings, but it turned out to be the back. It’s a bit deceiving that way and hard to tell where the whining is coming from. But yeah, I had a bad whine from 25pmh and grew louder as speed increased.
