FYI If you have the 2 door coupe model, you have to remove the entire back cover to access the speakers AND you need to cut about 1 inch off of a metal bar that touches the magnet of your aftermarket speaker. If you don't you will short the speaker out and cause your Amp to go into protection mode.

The only reason you would need to remove the third brake light would be if you have a 2 door coupe, most of those require you to remove the entire rear deck trim. On the 4 door sedans (like in this video), you can just remove the speaker grill.

I’m attempting this right now, and for some reason I’m having horrible fitment issues with these brackets and pioneer speakers. I had a hell of a time getting the bracket to rest in the back deck and it was even worse trying to snap the grille into place.
@BigDog500014 жыл бұрын
Sometimes aftermarket speakers can be a pain to install. Every once in a while they are too big and will not fit, I usually will look underneath to make sure they are not hitting anything if they don't want to go it. Sometimes is helps to just put the bracket in (without speaker) and see if it fits ok, then that narrows it down to whether it is a speaker or bracket fitment issue.

Might be a stupid question, but why do you need the speaker adapters Anyway? Can't you screw the speakers directly to the place where the original speaker was mounted (maybe drilling some extra holes)?
@BigDog500015 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible to not use adapters and that is always an option, but the speakers may sit too far inside door and/or may not fit the opening properly depending on speaker size. Adapters usually make speaker installs much easier.

@@BigDog50001 Thanks for your help! I thought using 6.5inch (16.25 cm) speakers with depth of 4.5 cm should fit. If you use adapters the front of the speakers come forward and may stick out too much for the side panel?

Hi, Nice Video Btw. I am having a problem with my 07 Civic LX. It seems to have a weird problem with an electrical issue... i have the car running and the battery is draining. so i changed the alternator and the battery and its still draining... Funny part is that, if i turn on my Headlights ON the battery holds charge instead of draining it more.. not sure how to fix that one..
@BigDog500017 жыл бұрын
Could be a ton of stuff, and it's hard to tell from the way you worded it, but first keep it simple, check belt and tension. Check all connections at alternator. Check fuses going to alternator (I believe they are the #3 and #10 in under dash fuse box on that model). Check and make sure Charging System Indicator (battery light) in dash comes on when you put key in On (II) position). Check voltage at battery when vehicle is running, should be 13-14v. Check for any trouble codes in PCM (engine computer), you might have codes for the Electric Load Detector (ELD) (P1297 or P1298).

Will 6.5 coaxial speakers fit on the front door? They have tweeters so i guess they take more space. I have a coupe.
@BigDog500016 жыл бұрын
I don't know without seeing them, but yes tweeters take up extra space and if they stick out too far they might not fit. The speakers I installed in this video had tweeters but they did not stick out very far. Usually it is the 3 way speakers with a mid-range that stick out too far and will not fit (but that isn't always the case).
@307billy7 жыл бұрын
that is SO much easier than on my 2015 Honda Civic! I just finished putting in new aftermarket speakers in front and back. In back you basically have to take about 6 things apart before you can access the speakers (back seat cushion, bolsters, pillar covers, and rear shelf cover). All I can say is you are lucky! I'm done now so not doing that again. Why would Honda change from such a user friendly design to a user un-friendly labor intensive design? My only guess is it's cheaper so they tried to save money. The front door speakers are the same, much easier.

Especially since I got a 5 speed manual, smooth as butter, drives like a dream, and gets great gas mileage. the biggest thing you will need is to 1) sound dampen the door, 2) put in an inline/cover/protection around your door speaker, then amplify it. Those kickers need an amp. Plus the doors of the civic cause you to lose a lot of sound without that additional protection. :)

a619ko a619ko Did it start immediately after installing a stereo in vehicle? If so, then I would definitely pull radio and go back over your install and double check everything. You can also check your relay for your AC by swapping it with known good and make sure it isn't sticking closed at times.

I wish I would've watched this video first. I didn't know the grills came off and now I have to figure out how to put my backseat back in.

Hello friend, congratulations on the video, I'm Brazilian, and I would like to know how you found the connectors for the speakers, I'm looking for but not yet found to buy. Thank you very much

I know they are available from Amazon here in the US and I am sure there are other sellers out there. I left the part numbers in the description to make it easy to search for them. Thanks for the comment!

What's the screw size you used when mounting the speaker to the bracket?
@BigDog500015 жыл бұрын
It was probably a #6 x 5/8 in. but I don't remember for sure.

are the back speakers the same size at the front door? and am I supposed to disconnect the brake light when working on the back?
@BigDog500018 жыл бұрын
Yes the factory speakers are the same size in the front and back. You can put either 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speakers in either location (just be sure to use correct size speaker adaptors). You do not need to remove the brake light if you have a 4 door sedan. You will need to take it out if you have a 2 door coupe because you have to remove the rear deck on most of those models.

+Big Dog50001 I bought 2 kicker speakers 6.5 2 way . I needed to drill some holes on the door so they could stay put. would this be necessary for the back speakers as well? to drill holes to keep them in place on the back?

Do you have to disconnect the car battery first or does that not matter?

Will those black brackets you showed in the video work for any 6.5’ speaker? Great vid btw really informative
@BigDog500016 жыл бұрын
Those are specific to this Honda model. There might be some other Honda models it will fit but they are not a one size fits all. Thanks for the comment!

Big Dog50001 Automotive I get that, I have a civic too, I’m just wondering if any 6.5 inch speaker you buy for install on a civic will fit on the mounting bracket you used? Thanks
@BigDog500016 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-bd5dz Ah ok, I think most 6.5 speakers should fit, most manufactures have standardized the speaker sizes.

Hey man, I'm trying to take a close look at your video for the driver's side front speaker to see if your colours are the same as mine. Every wiring schematic I look at says that the speaker wires should be pink and light green...mine are dark green and light green. There is a way of removing the speaker wire harness without breaking it or cutting the wires, which I have already done, so I have no way of really telling which speaker wire was on the left and which was on the right... Can you tell by the video or remember what colour your wires were? This is a shot in the dark question, I know.
@BigDog500017 жыл бұрын
You didn't say what vehicle you have, but for the vehicle in this video the front left (driver's) door speaker should be Light Green (+) and Light Blue (-) at the speaker. The negative (-) wire should be Pink at the audio unit but changes to Light Blue at a connector on its way to speaker. Wire colors can vary from model to model and wiring diagrams are sometimes wrong.

Aha. It’s a 2010 Civic DX-G sedan. The right side of the car matches the diagrams out there, but not the left. My left back speaker wires are orange and white, but is still in its factory harness, so what I’ve done is look up the after market speaker adapter harness to see how it connects & figured out which is +/- that way. Unfortunately, I had already removed the factory speaker harness on the front left. I will now take a Sharpie and blacken the negative wires.
