In this video I show you how to install the front and rear speakers in a 2006 Honda Civic sedan. The exact vehicle in this video is a 2006 Honda Civic EX four door sedan. 2006-2001 Honda Civic sedan speakers should be similar but may not be exact. The rear speakers on coupe and SI models are usually a bit different.

FYI If you have the 2 door coupe model, you have to remove the entire back cover to access the speakers AND you need to cut about 1 inch off of a metal bar that touches the magnet of your aftermarket speaker. If you don't you will short the speaker out and cause your Amp to go into protection mode.

You can apply oil slightly on the buttons of the door panel. I did it and if something goes wrong in the future, I can easily remove them easily. Oil doesn’t harm rubber but dust can 😅.

that is SO much easier than on my 2015 Honda Civic! I just finished putting in new aftermarket speakers in front and back. In back you basically have to take about 6 things apart before you can access the speakers (back seat cushion, bolsters, pillar covers, and rear shelf cover). All I can say is you are lucky! I'm done now so not doing that again. Why would Honda change from such a user friendly design to a user un-friendly labor intensive design? My only guess is it's cheaper so they tried to save money. The front door speakers are the same, much easier.

I have a 4 door LX sedan. Anyway, glad to be finished and have my nice Polk audio DB652's in back and front instead of the cheapo stock Honda speakers. Now for the 4 channel amp, a Clarion XC1410 with 50 watts per channel. I am still jealous of your easy peasy back speaker access! But I am very happy with my 2015 Civic. Especially since I got a 5 speed manual, smooth as butter, drives like a dream, and gets great gas mileage. Bought it recently as a certified used Honda with only 9,221 miles on it, in "Dyno Blue Pearl" I love Honda (well except for back speaker access!)

Great video Big Dog , it can't get any easier than the way you did it.Now I feel more encouraged to try doing it myself with my civic. But why did you have to remove the break light bulb though? Electrical reasons?
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 8 жыл бұрын
The only reason you would need to remove the third brake light would be if you have a 2 door coupe, most of those require you to remove the entire rear deck trim. On the 4 door sedans (like in this video), you can just remove the speaker grill.

I’m attempting this right now, and for some reason I’m having horrible fitment issues with these brackets and pioneer speakers. I had a hell of a time getting the bracket to rest in the back deck and it was even worse trying to snap the grille into place.
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes aftermarket speakers can be a pain to install. Every once in a while they are too big and will not fit, I usually will look underneath to make sure they are not hitting anything if they don't want to go it. Sometimes is helps to just put the bracket in (without speaker) and see if it fits ok, then that narrows it down to whether it is a speaker or bracket fitment issue.

Hi, Nice Video Btw. I am having a problem with my 07 Civic LX. It seems to have a weird problem with an electrical issue... i have the car running and the battery is draining. so i changed the alternator and the battery and its still draining... Funny part is that, if i turn on my Headlights ON the battery holds charge instead of draining it more.. not sure how to fix that one..
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 7 жыл бұрын
Could be a ton of stuff, and it's hard to tell from the way you worded it, but first keep it simple, check belt and tension. Check all connections at alternator. Check fuses going to alternator (I believe they are the #3 and #10 in under dash fuse box on that model). Check and make sure Charging System Indicator (battery light) in dash comes on when you put key in On (II) position). Check voltage at battery when vehicle is running, should be 13-14v. Check for any trouble codes in PCM (engine computer), you might have codes for the Electric Load Detector (ELD) (P1297 or P1298).

@brendenj9113
@brendenj9113 6 жыл бұрын
the biggest thing you will need is to 1) sound dampen the door, 2) put in an inline/cover/protection around your door speaker, then amplify it. Those kickers need an amp. Plus the doors of the civic cause you to lose a lot of sound without that additional protection. :)

7:10 is the wire adapter is necessary for all speaker aftermarket? or I just use the existing wire plug to a new speaker that I installed?
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 5 жыл бұрын
The wire adapter makes it easy to use aftermarket speakers, it allows them to plug directly in. Otherwise the vehicle speaker wire has to be cut and spliced or somehow adapted to the new speakers.

Will 6.5 coaxial speakers fit on the front door? They have tweeters so i guess they take more space. I have a coupe.
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know without seeing them, but yes tweeters take up extra space and if they stick out too far they might not fit. The speakers I installed in this video had tweeters but they did not stick out very far. Usually it is the 3 way speakers with a mid-range that stick out too far and will not fit (but that isn't always the case).

I reused the screws that held the speakers in place on the new adapters. I used new screws for the speakers. I do not believe any were self tapping because I was only going in to plastic.

@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible to not use adapters and that is always an option, but the speakers may sit too far inside door and/or may not fit the opening properly depending on speaker size. Adapters usually make speaker installs much easier.

@@harrievangeffen Yes, I used the Metra adapters (part # 82-7805) for my '07 Civic sedan. This is precisely the issue I'm facing, a clearance problem. The adapters are too deep and push my new speaker out to the point where the door panel won't come back on.

Great video; I’m fixing to attempt to replace my front door speakers in 07 Civic coupe. I’ve been having a weird issue just with driver side .. it don’t work in the morning when it’s kind of cold outside.. but after work, when car has been closed up & hot inside it works perfectly.. It’s been doing this a few weeks now.. I don’t know if this car has a factory power amplifier.. it’s the basic system not the touch screen one.. I wanted to ask if you ever heard of anything like this happening? Maybe cold / hot temp effects metal expansion on voice coil.. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
