Tackling my water pump right now what I'm doing is I'm getting everything removed first and then if that pivot Bolt has problems coming off I'll let it soak with blaster which I found out you can insert the straw between the back of the tension arm and the front of the water pump and treat the spot where the Allen bolt mates w the engine, and then remove it in the next couple of days then once the water pump is removed i'll take it to the parts store and get the new one and possibly turn the old one in for a small credit.

Mine is 2010 LX at 203,000 miles. Your video was extremely helpful to visualize some parts! Have you considered replacing timing chain yourself? Maybe some helpful advice? P.S. Honda quoted me water pump + timing chain replacement to be 1400 dollars. Hilarious.
@YourCarGuyDR5 жыл бұрын
Kons213 it sounds like you are getting ready for a good project. The timing chain job isn’t bad to do. The most difficult part unless you have an impact gun is removing the crankshaft pulley bolt. Once that is out simply take your time and don’t force anything. Make sure you lock the chain tensioner in the compressed position during assembly. Let me know if you run into any issues. Good luck.

Bill Stathakos truthfully the belt is fairy simple. You will want to remove the lower splash cover for access. Basically you can follow the same steps.

Yea, the tensioner hex bolt apparently can get stuck and sometimes strips out - then it is a nightmare removing. Bad design to have it overlap the water pump.
@YourCarGuyDR5 жыл бұрын
Timetryp most of the time a stripped bolt is caused by using the wrong or a low quality tool. Proper angle and seating of the tool also greatly reduce the risk of stripping.
@Timetryp5 жыл бұрын
@@YourCarGuyDR Yea, I agree on the issue of tool quality. I was looking on-line for the USA made industrial grade of Craftsman for the hex tool. Those apparently were made to even higher specs than the regular line of Craftsman tools. It is all Chinese stuff now. I suppose Snap-On would be the choice for quality, although over-priced. Question: I just replaced my serpentine belt. There were no sqweeks or anything it was basically preventative maintenance. Now its making a noise. Maybe its the new belt, but it sounds like the tensioner. A rattling sqeek sound when you first accelerate in each gear. The belt was super difficult to remove by myself and took TWO grown men just to get the new one on. I used the special tool and when I slowly pushed it finally gave a little, then had some play like that was it but it wasn't enough to remove the belt and then went back a little further, just enough to get the belt on and it would pop loose. I've never experienced that before with a belt and feared it may have broke or something and now this annoying rattle sqweek. The weird thing is that there is still good tension on the belt.
