Honda cr 80 cr85 how to line up the kickstart shaft 1985-2007. pt11

i timed the kick start shaft assembly correctly and it seems to work fine but when i tighten the side case bolts down it binds the kick start shaft so it won't spring back up. than if i loosen the case bolts, it springs back up and it works correctly im at a loss with this have u ever had this happen maybe missing a shim ????

Same problem. None of the internet solutions have worked. I've taken off and put back on and loosened then rubber mallet and tighten. I didn't even touch the kickstart assembly before this. So what the heck

I can't get to Open the first shell that's covers it all how can I get it apart

Hi what do u mean by the first shell, do u mean the outer casing, if so you have to take the water pump case off then the impeller off to slide the full case off

do i need the spring? what all will be cussed if i don’t have the small spring i have the big one.

Hi there the small spring pushes the cog back so it grips the other cog, if it's missing your kickstart will slip cos the spring not pushing the kickstart cog, the kickstart will only work wen the bikes tilted without the small spring. I've a kx 80 vid on here that the kickstart was slipping, it'll show u the use of the small spring m8

Hi there different on those years but ther will be markings on it its best to get the 82 manual and it will tell you how to do it m8

@2stroke mx classics I also tried lining up the dimples but it didn't make any sense. The gear behind the clutch would be in the way if I kicked it over. So unless I'm putting the spring in the wrong way I have no idea what it could be

It lines up so the back stopper doesn't go threw the casing at the top m8, cos if they are not lined the stopper will jam or wen started the cog that moves off the idle cog wen start up doesn't go back and can cause some case damage too. some are difrent notches/line up etc ive a kx 80 vid on here with a slipping kickstart which mite be worth watching I'm sure I show how to line it up in the vid, as for the manual I'm sure there be some on ebay from usa but they will be able to be bought and downloaded as a file on your fone hope this helps👍
