A simple drain and fill job. Be sure to use genuine Honda dual pump fluid only!

Great video, I bough mine in November 2021, evidently it had little maintenance done, I've been doing the service myself, only thing I haven't changed is this fluid, I had to change the differential, (had my mechanic do this one, since I don't have the room and back there I did not have the skills), did not ask if he changed said differential fluid. That's a great dog assistance by the way. Great job!

The VTM-4 fluid is transmission fluid. Use your favorite brand. NAPA sells Eneos dual pump fluid if you don't want to buy from dealership. Amazon sells many different suction guns or fluid extractors You can pour the lubricant into them then force into differential or transfer case. If you own a Pilot don't forget to service the transfer case!

Quick tip measure how much came out and put the same back in with fresh fluid your most likely gonna be buying the Diff fluid from a dealer they know how much it needs aswell if your unsure spill till you fill is ok but there's more precise ways of doing things and less messy also
@kauffmansgarageАй бұрын
Been filling to the spill for 35 years. Measuring the drain amount is useful for transmissions for sure. We have a Honda 9 speed automatic service coming up and I will be measuring for that one.

I have a 1998 Honda CRV. I'm starting to hear some "creaking" from the back of the car when I first start the car up and start moving. Just for the first 20 ft or so and then I don't hear it. I wonder if it's the rear differential fluid. I called a standard oil change place to ask if they would drain and fill it for me if I got the rear diff oil and they said they charge $150 for changing it. Really? After watching the video, seemed like the easiest thing in the world to do.
@kauffmansgarage10 ай бұрын
If it happens when turning, the fluid most likely needs changed. If you don’t know the service history, it needs to be done anyway. This is an easy service if you have access to tools or someone that can lend a hand.

@kauffmansgarage11 ай бұрын
Almost seems impossible since this system is based on front wheel slippage. Get into some gravel or mud and let it rip to see what the rear wheels do and have a friend watch or set up a camera. If it really doesn't work, you may have some internal problems in the rear differential.
