I wouldn't say it's softer necessarily... softer doesn't always mean more comfortable. This seat is more comfortable mainly because it's much wider at the part of the seat you sit on, so there's more surface area to sit on. And they do use their own proprietary foam that is a density suited for most riders.

All of the SC Complete Seats come with covers made of water resistant vinyl, and to protect the seat foam, a moisture barrier is installed between the cover and foam.
