I love my 1989 1.6i 16v só much I've owned her for the last 32 years. Fun to drive, still turns heads and is uber reliable. A car ahead of its time.

I still daily drive my 90HF with a 1.6 SOHC VTEC and 8 psi... It has been turbo charged for 14 years and not a single thing has failed. Tight as a drum, fun and reliable.

I owned a 1988 F-reg between 1990 and 1998 and it was a fantastic and reliable car. I was really surprised by the engine noise and comments in the video as I don't recall mine being that vocal; on the contrary it revved smoothly and at 6-7k it sung like a sewing machine. I'd owned a couple of mk2 XR2s prior and also worked for Peugeot getting the chance to drive GTi's and these did have the boy-racer sound-track but not the Honda. It was also interesting to note how neat the Honda engine bay and how well routed and protected the electrical harnesses were especially compared to, even 10 year newer, Peugeots. Another thing I remember about the car is that it had pairs of opposite wheels so that the same pattern went from front to back regardless of which side you looked at the car.

I had two ‘89 models and a last production run ‘93 Vtec. Wonderful cars, I didn’t think they were hard to live with. Big boot, easy to drive slow or fast. Cheap to maintain and better looking than any other hot hatch. Can’t understand why he’s saying it was noisy?

Hi Ian. I bought a mark 2 model new in about 1990. Absolutely loved it. I don't remember it being noisy either. I thought it was pretty refined. Certainly no louder than my previous 205 GTI or XR3i. Have seen what a clean CRX fetches now? More than I paid new!

I had an 88 1.6-16i It was my first honda and probably my most favourite car i ever owned. Rust would fall on my head from the sunroof and the back arches started to go. For years after i still felt like getting another but never did.

Sound balance between the house music and the in car review isn’t the best but interesting video. I knew someone who had previous gen civic 1.5 which was a quick car for its day. Mid to late eighties. I remember that low go kart feeling to being in it. I like these old Hondas. They make XR3is look very primitive.

In Europe the ZC engine came standard on some CRXs as well as the Japanese domestic market.
@zzjjbb85284 жыл бұрын
The second generation CRX transitioned in 1987 when it was first released. But was named the 88-91 model year as the MK1 was still built and sold in 1987. This engine is the original engine and is a D16A9 (Not a ZC) engine and is as mentioned, 130bhp, 1.6 twin cam. By the looks of your profile photo you’re in America, so get your facts right before going off on someone’s video!

I know 3 versions in Europe, one with 1.4 double carb with 90hp, the 1.6i-16 d16a9 with 130hp and the 1.6i-vt b16 with 150hp.
