I just bought a used 2009 with this problem. Looked it up on KZbin and after 2 other videos presto this delivered the goods. Really excellent step by step and very thoughtful the way a mechanic should be. Thank you for your time doublez724 !

Mine ended up slightly more complicated. The middle metal strip was worn (the car was made in 2008), so I glued some aluminum foil and works really well now. Thanks again.

Nailed it! I was ready to pull out the multimeter and fuses and start going to town to find a short. Luckily, I had this same exact issue. A build--up of grease or film was preventing contact with the switch. Cleaned it up, tested it, and all is well again. Thank you!

thanks for the very useful video! My dome light on my 2011 Accord is flickering and lighting intermittently so I suspect that your video is right on track for what I need to do. Something is not making a solid connection and I will follow the steps that you outlined. I could not agree with you more about the fact that Honda did not fix that simple problem with your vehicle under warranty. After all, you probably paid top dollar for that vehicle and should receive top end service but sadly we don't usually get what we pay for, even though Honda is probably one of the better ones. I could go on and on about deteriorating work ethic etc but I will spare everyone the grief! Luckily, I have a GREAT mechanic who only works on Honda / Accura (all of his employees are ex honda dealership mechanics) They are extremely honest and have done things like stay late to fix my car when I limped it in right as they were closing. They have helped me out of a few major jams and I could not be more happy with them. I do NOT take my Hondas to the dealership any more for mechanic work because they have tried to take me for "a ride" more than once. The Honda repair shop that I use is the main reason that we only have Honda cars now and that is all I purchase until the shop closes etc. Its so hard to find an honest and good mechanic now. (actually its not just mechanics, but pretty much spans across most areas) I guess I got off track.... thanks again for the video.

I hope it helps fix your problem! The way service departments at dealerships operate (in general) is a broken system for sure. Hopefully one day they will use a model that benefits the brand, dealer, mechanic and customer. Also, great to hear you have found a good mechanic, they are hard to find.

My Honda dealer has been hit and miss on repairs. My Odyssey was back in six times for AC issues. It would leak on the passenger floor. They could not duplicate it and said to bring it back when it did it again. I did not even get off the lot before I had water leaking. They have warped my rotors over and under torquing the lug nuts. The right sliding door has rattled since day one. They fix it and it lasts about a week. This was my first and last Honda.

I believe I have the same issue. I took it in about 7 years ago because it blew the light. I replaced it, but it blew again. Took it to the dealer, they did “something” probably just replaced the bulb. It seemed to last longer, but eventually blew. So, with that I just lived with it for this long without it. I’m going to try to get it fixed now. I’ll repost back to let you know how it goes.

This really works! I just bought a year 2014 Honda Jazz (maybe called Fit in your place), and the dome light is not working as it is. just when I was about to go to the shop and buy the parts, this video shows up and boy does it work. It's a shame that I can't use a LED bulb on this caz it has auto dimming function.. nevertheless, this saved me from buying a new part. Thank you!

Interior lights won't come on when door is opened but you can press the light cover and the lights will come on. I replaced the switches inside the 2012 Honda Civic front interior lights, still won't come on when the doors are open. Could it be a fuse? Any advice appreciated. When I had this issue on a 2007 Accord, replacing the switches inside the front interior lights did the trick, the lights started working when the front doors were opened.

Honda doesn't like to stand behind the recalls either! It's like your car's VIN number is never on the recall list, although you have to replace the exact part that they were recalling! It's just another way for them to get out of fixing something!
