Looks good! You can re laminate the EL panels with an iron. It’ll help with those spots. Just toss a towel or some Teflon sheet down so you don’t burn the plastic.

I tried with an iron and a towel, but for some reason it didn't work on those spots. I tried over and over and gave up. But its not too noticeable. But still waiting on a replacement panel.

@@TealEF90 Thanks for offering to sell me a garnish, but I think I'll pass though. Its a little too pricey for me. Its usually much more expensive when its not local to me. I'm not even going to tell you how much I usually find them for. But I know the prices differ widely in different places. I appreciate you offering to sell me one though. 😁

A couple ideas. How about 3D printing a ring border to fit inside the garnish cutout. Maybe would make the cutout look cleaner and use double sided tape to install. Also adding clear film to the entire outside garnish to help seal?
@BudgetGears
@BudgetGears 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm that is a pretty good idea. Essentially a 3d printed border to cover the cut out. I think that may work well. I'll have to design and print the border and see. Right now I've removed the silicone border and painted a plastidip border on there which make it look much cleaner, which are the final pics on my Instagram. But I do like the border idea. I really wish there was a way to seal the cutout without it showing through the red.
@TheJohnnyef9
@TheJohnnyef9 2 жыл бұрын
@@BudgetGears The ring could be made to extend onto the garnish a little to cover the blled through of the sealer. The ring could maybe made two piece or split to install. Some more ideas for you. Just making a border outline vinyl sticker to cover the bleed through. Using plastic to weld seal the garnish cutout. Or my dumb idea lol. Perhaps using tire plug strips to seal the cutout. Haha. Idk how far you want to take your R&D but if you got your hands on an ugly garnish that's cracked you could practice on. EF sedan garnishes are usually in rougher shape than hatch and similar maybe could practice on those.

Can a crash bar on a hatch fit on a sedan civic also will the fenders and hood fit too? I have so many questions
@BudgetGears
@BudgetGears Жыл бұрын
No, they won't fit. Theres forum posts out there that indicate what's interchangeable. Best way to check is by searching the part on a oem honda website and seeing the vehicle application. A lot of the crx and civic hatch parts are the same, but sedan is diff. There are some sedan stuff that's the same, but easier to just search the parts and compare part numbers. If the numbers are diff then they won't work.

Where can I find the hardware for the center garnish?
@BudgetGears
@BudgetGears Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the clip studs? They're long discontinued from Honda and Acura. Your best bet is to get it from the junk yard if you come across any garnishes. If you're talking about the nut, those are still available from Honda and Acura. If you're talking about the clip that goes in the center of the garnish, that's also still available from Honda and Acura. The thing people are always looking for are the studs. You can post up on the EF Facebook groups as well and ask people if they have any available. There's a lot of guys on those groups that collect those pieces and resell when people need it.

@BudgetGears Жыл бұрын
@@infohotelalpine8784 Sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing my designs. My designs are also not correct to OEM. I don't have an OEM garnish to measure from. I started out 3D designing the exact measurements of the garnish sticker by measuring the sticker on the garnish. Then I eyeballed how much I wanted to cut. I ended up going with a 6mm offset. So I drew that into my design and printed it out. Then I based the rest of the 3d pieces off that.

@@BudgetGears well, I'm fine with cutting my own. Just had some ideas you might find useful. And as for 3D printing, I'm not as savvy with that yet. Are your logo/frame/parts you made listed on any sites? That's where I was struggling.

@@eugenehall390 you can msg me on Instagram and discuss ideas. Or we can flow it in the comments here. The 3d printed parts I made and designed aren't for sale. It takes a very long time to print so its not worth my time to make them for sale. Plus, they're only my version 1. I'm currently just searching around for another garnish so I can make another. Using what I learned in the first one. I'm sure I can make the second one even better, but garnishes are kind of hard to find for a reasonable price. 🙄

I've actually had a lot more than 10 requests to make this. I'd say there's a lot of interest, but unfortunately, I don't think I have something that's worth selling yet. I haven't had time to continue prototyping either. I do know someone that makes a indiglo that is very cool. You can check out @turbeau405 instagram.com/none_ofakind/ He makes a version of the indiglo that's a lot easier to install and looks awesome. I've been referring everyone that asks me to him.

@@BudgetGearsI recently bought it awaiting shipping. How you find it easier to install as oppose to the one you made ? What glue you used to avoid seepage.
@BudgetGears
@BudgetGears Жыл бұрын
@@infohotelalpine8784 I don't have a indiglo from Turbeau405 so I can't really compare. You can reach out to him to see what kind of sealant to use. For me, I used silicone. Silicone sealant is probably the best bet in sealing it. However, it is messy. I think it would be better if you made a silicone seal which presses up against the garnish to seal it. Kind of like a o-ring.
