I seriously though. Good video. I picked up an 86 200SX last fall for $100. I thought it’d just be a parts machine. But the damn engine ran great. I ended up restoring it. They’re great little engines and parts are pretty easy to find.

Good to hear! I started ordering parts for it. The new case just came in the mail but I'm having trouble finding a stator cover. I may have to get that welded. I'll get the video of the rebuild started really soon. Thanks again for watching!

I'm sure if I did something the right way, it was completely by accident :)

Your channel is big for me - just picked up an 86 TRX125 for $50.. didnt care about condition. Was missing pull start cover, and clutch side engine cover was held on by 1 bolt.. i opened up clutch side cover and all od the plates come tumbling out, so i did the responsible thing and closed it back up. Im trying to figure out what exactly i need to do to put this rig back together - like you i dont have a ton of experience with full teardowns (never done it). I was pretty worried when i opened it up and a bunch of thin plates were just laying in there lol

It sure is intimidating when I start getting inside the engines 😁 We'll get there though !!!

I’ll never forget the first time I split a bike down to that level. As soon as I did I thought to myself, ‘what have I done?!’ It was my 1996 XR100 that I had bought from a friend when the bike was barely 5-6 months old. He hit a car riding on the road like an idiot and the front end was destroyed. Luckily he only got a few bumps and bruises but his dad made him sell it. I put the forks from an older XR100 on it and rode the crap out of it. I was crossing a log one day and the bike died, started it back up and it died again. Turned out the chain was loose, jumped off, wrapped around, then proceeded to bust bearings in the case. I turned to the old parts bike I had and wanted to save as much of the new bike as I could so decided to swap cases and put the good guts in the old case. I had to modify the case to use the CDI ignition because the old cases were for a points ignition. Regardless I learned a lot by doing all that at the age of 13-14. I later realized I could buy those small bore bikes for dirt cheap back then non-running. Fix them and sell them. I had a ludicrous business as a teenager for quite some time. Now that I’m in my 40s I’ve been tinkering with ATVs again. I’m a huge fan of Honda 300s as those were just tanks. Anyway totally dig the videos man!

Took me a while but I just finished! Love the video. Can't wait to see it come back together. That motor has to be pretty similar to a fat cat motor?
@BIGFOOTBIKESANDBREWS7 ай бұрын
I think so. With the exception of the pull start and this one doesn't have a comp release. I just got the new crank bearings and timing and oil chain on. Just waiting on the machine shop to bore the cylinder and I'll be ready to rock!

Did I miss something… or did you already put it at TDC? I thought that preceded any teardown or am I wrong?
