Ive had my Koso 170cc 4V for 6 months and put over 1000 miles on it so far. Engine dyno’d at 26whp at 11,400 rpms with the Power Vision 3 Standalone ECU. Runs absolutely perfect, does over 90mph w/gps.

power vision is a piggy back....
@john-martin4 жыл бұрын
phat56pat Piggybacks are external devices that tie into the engine computers wiring, and essentially trick it into making more power. The Power Vision does not do this my son.
@phat56pat4 жыл бұрын
john martin power vision flashes stock Ecu is not a stand alone like a ARACER. The factory grom ecu is still on the bike with the power vision, there for not standalone and is a piggy back reflash. Not as reliable as a ARacer but more reliable then a power commander 5
@phat56pat4 жыл бұрын
john martin directly from the website “A Dynojet PV3 enables fuel tuning straight from your bike's diagnostic connector. You don't need to tear down your bike to access throttle body connections or tap into switched lines, or deal with sending off your ECU. The PV3 simply plugs in allowing you to view system metrics and flash your ECU “
@john-martin4 жыл бұрын
phat56pat You can make all the same changes like ARacer, the changes are permanent to the ecu unless you make more changes. It is not a piggyback system like the power commander 5.

Yes the work is great but facts are a bit Made up. Honing marks are there so there is always an oil film between the rings and cylinder wall, so That the rings physically never touch the Wall. And just using a Thin layer of oil when instaling so That the rings ”cut in” doesnt make any sense. After the first rotation of the engine, the Walls should already be Coated by the engine oil. And he should be spinning it several times when installing a new head because you want the oil to circulate up to the valvetrain. The rings dont really cut in, they seat. It kind of sounds like hes saying “That is the whole break in process”, probably not. But the break in process is going to last for several hours of the engine running. People tend to ignore This, and This Will cause the engines life to be severely shortened

This is the same process for all engines, try it on a 212 predator minibike engine first, that's how i learned to do ring gap and orient them and I honed the cylinder myself too with a hone and drill but you can just pay for that to be done. But this is all straightforward, I did every last thing he did to put mine together and those engines are only like 100$ used or less it's worth the education.. because now I see this grom video and it looks easy, I know I can do it. You should own feeler gauges anyways for valve lash, which you can also learn on the 212

aeroR ... if you install bbk, change to the light weight crank, Kitaco 5 speed, 4 valve head, bigger throttle body and flange and intake. Also install an oil cooler and catch can. Then you must change to a aracer 5 mini with2 stage and auto-tuner with O2 bung with piggy back for atf, also change to brembo 4 piston or 2 piston your choice. Since you going alot faster you Midas we'll have better brake system.. And change all the given parts colder plug, better wires, gear and sprockets, better brake lines, and find a good tuner who can Dyno tune you for 300 bucks. That's what I would do. Hence I'm just changing to a hi comp kitaco piston and kitaco cam with a dhm reflash ECU. Also cheaper for now.

Good video. Good skills. The Grom engines are hard to video because the inside is black. Usually it's all about getting contrast, but in this giving some up for midtones is good. Perhaps Honda wants the oil to drain faster, like Glyptol; perhaps they are lazy. Sometimes, on quite small engines, it may be easier to put the cylinder in the bore---and then slide the cylinder it down the studs and connect the wrist pin, though it's a preference thing.

With the 2022 model grom honda adjusted the stock bore and stroke to be more oversquare. 2021: 52.4mm x 57.9mm 2022: 50.0 mm x 63.1 mm Due to the longer stroke, when combined with this kit it will be a bit larger. Will a new big bore kit be released for the new grom or will this kit be compatible with simply different tuning? Some other big bore kits are as large as a 64mm piston and on the 2022 grom this would be a substantial 202cc versus 186cc as the big bore kit advertises.
