Nice video. These Hondas go forever if you keep changing the oil. It uses a cambelt in oil (wet belt), so that's why regular oil changes are v. Important to ensure the belt is not attacked by acids in old oil. If you do oil changes as specified it should last the life of the motor. I always change oil hot rather than cold. This is better as it drains easier and removes more of the sludge. I do this on any engine - car, truck, mower. petrol or diesel...run it up to temp first before dumping the oil.

Im not a professional lawn guy but I've had 4 trimmers with Honda being my 5th... Best trimmer I've owned.... First pull turns on.... The feeling while trimming and performance..... Top quality product..... I payed little over $400.00 but I'm happy with it. Good brand trimmers out there but this Honda just what I was looking for.

Back in '72 I bought a 1-3/4hp 22" push mower with a Briggs motor. Still starts and runs so I use it on steep grade mowing and with that staggered front wheel you can get close to the trees and flowers. Regular maintenance and straight 30 weight oil and am on the third set of ball bearings wheels. I run the motor at low RPM and that is one reason for the long years of service. So one can not compare these older B & S motors to Honda. There were years in apartment living where I did not run the mower for 6 years Houston and 6 years LA. The original blade is of good steel but I had to have the blade ends heated and bent up slighter to create better air flow so I could mow wet grass. The second mower I bought was the 21" Honda professional with gear drive and twin blades. Good mower but was worthless if the grass was a little wet in the morning. I sold it in three years and bought the 48" Scag gear drive which is very good with the Eliminator blades in the fall leaves. Takes a while to adjust the Scag blade height for best performance. The turbo baffle works in extremely tall grass 9-10" in second gear but the cut quality is best with the regular blade and no turbo baffle. When you buy the Scag new, do immediately grease the spindles as I could feel some vibration at first. The factory does not grease those spindles and that can be a problem later. Most of the well used Scag mowers as viewed at the dealers suffer from lack of maintenance and that is the reason for all those trade-ins at the dealer.

I have the same trimmer. I finally got a speed feed head. Much better. Not perfect but better than the stock head that comes with the trimmer. Every now and then the speed feed which glitch out but it's super easy to reset. WAY better than the stock head that comes with the trimmer. I got pretty good at reloading the stock one but it's just a really bad design. Even when loaded perfectly the line likes to get stuck.

@@A_Renaissance_Man This product works very well. You can feel the smooth power & never boggs down. I made a mistake by leaving near my Honda lawn mower while it was being rinsed... These Honda trimmers Don't get along with water.. That's a mistake I made & now it feels different. I don't know what to do other than cleaned it up & change the oil & drained the fuel & pour new fuel in it. But it feels the same loosing power. I'm taking it to John Deere so they can do whatever needs to be done to make it new again... Never will I do the same mistake again. Honda trimmers & products are quality & last long with proper care. I learned my lesson lol

I picked up mine yesterday that I had ordered from Home Depot. Same model and with tax it was over $400. I also repaired my $70 dollar Murray, so now in case one needs repair, I’ll have a spare. I also picked up a Honda mower 2 months ago and in works great too.

Thank you for your comment. I remove the gas and run out the carburetor before putting the weedeater away and in the five or six years of ownership I have yet to have to remove the carburetor and clean it out from gumming up. This was with using 10% Ethanol. Starting next year I will be using nonEthanol gas.

Those Honda engines are brilliant on small machines. I don’t know what’s wrong with your trimmer head because mine works fine so maybe you’ve got a fault with your head. Either way was an interesting video to see what others do for their maintenance. 👍🏻

The first one that I bought, I had a landscaping business and it lasted me 13 years. I've had the one I have now for about 8...and I STILL HATE putting new string on it!!! I guess starting first time every time has to be the prize, because I've tried 2 different heads and still get so disgusted with the string! It would be really comical to watch you do it twice in a row, because it's beyond my capabilities!😝

Echo speed-feed. I installed it on mine without ever even using the factory head due to the almost universally horrible reviews on it. The Echo is set-up in the package to spin right on the Honda; you won't need any of the included inserts or spacers. Also, I use two different types of line with it; Stihl standard round orange and Stihl's square x-line. Both feed perfectly in it.

Good Question. I have never checked them in my 10 years of ownership. The book says 0.08mm Intake and 0.11mm exhaust to be checked every year or 100 hours of use. Since mine starts on the first pull I never even thought to check the valves.
