Good idea to do this this early. Most people check on their snow blower when it is cold and snowing. Much easier to deal with when it’s still nice and cozy outside.

I just replaced the rubber paddles and scraper blade (all OEM) on the used HS520ASA Harmony I bought. The official manual I downloaded mentions an adjustment to the blade 1/16”-1/8” from the lowest point of the paddles. The paddle to the new scraper bar measurement with the bar fully up is greater than the recommended adjustment that would only increase if I drop the spacer bar. Then it continues to say to make sure the bar is adjusted so the scraper bar has the same previously mentioned spec. gap at the side bases of the snowblower. Confusing and seems odd you would want the scraper bar contacting the ground. I notice other snowblowers have side sliders to contact the ground and then scraper is set to a gap. Looks like I wish mine had these sliders so I am not wearing out the already banged up sides of the snowblower which in this case I guess the scraper bar is supposed to protect. Thoughts anyone?

Kneeling down and looking at your snowblower from the side, it should be resting on the scraper blade and the side panels should be slightly off the ground- 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch off the ground. This gap between the side panels and the ground, made possible by the unit resting on the scraper blade will prevent your side panels from getting banged up (if your side panels are getting banged up the scraper blade needs to be lowered or replaced). You can lower the scraper blade by loosening the three nuts and pushing the blade downward then retightening. It makes sense that the scraper blade is the lowest point otherwise snow will escape beneath if it is not scraping the ground. The lowest point of the rubber paddles should be close to the ground but not touching 1/16" or so. The instructions in my manual are pretty good-- I had to read them 6 times but still pretty good.

@@fishycomics You are welcome. Great video thank you- we got about 10 inches of snow here last night so we really appreciate the instruction- the snowblower did good with the new scraper blade.

@@justinshelton4084 thanks Justin I'll look into it but I am happy with it being higher than lower for many reasons here, the cracks, rocks etc.

Why should I replace the scraper?
@fishycomics3 жыл бұрын
For me I chose to change it due to wear, before it gets to the metal.

Thank you for your quick reply. I google and this is the reason why. C/p: Scraper blades and rubber paddles are designed to be replaced in sets on single stages. They wear at similar rates so now you have really worn paddles that are no longer sticking out past the brand new scraper bar.

@@Scott-xq2dm thank you, the cost is not expensive to replace.

single stage throwers have a plastic scraper bar that ride on the cement. If you use the machine and never change the scraper bar eventually you'll be grinding metal on cement.
