That ECU is normally used in US market Honda Civic 92-95 DX/LX D15 with automatic transmission. Original B18C ECU would be 37820-P73-003. Since its a 96 it would be OBDII. Hondata S300 on a P28 or P75 ECU would work great for your current setup. You can tell which cylinder head you have by looking for the head code stamped on the head. Original ITR head code is P73.

my dc2r used to die with A/C on as well when coming to a stop. Cleaning the throttle body was the solution.

looks like it has a GSR/SIR-G head instead of a type r/b16 head based on the upper radiator hose. Also you can open the ecu to see if it has a socketed chip, you might be able to get another chip with a better basemap for now before getting it tuned
