congrats on your youtube success! haven't gotten my monkey yet, but planning on it this spring. i grew up in vermont, and we'd go jeeping on trails just like this, so this was a fun video to watch... i won't be putting it through what you do on these here vids, but it's cool watching you do it with yours! :D and it's nice to see what the monkey is really capable of... as a fairly inexperienced biker myself, i'm learning some cool stuff from you, and you have a great presentation! thx for posting these, mister--

This was exceptionally gnarly. You guys really thrashed those bikes. I’m amazed that the carbureted Monkey started back up after that drenching. In your part of the world, a folding limb saw could come in handy on the trails. I had a TW200 for years. I really loved it, but I eventually realized it’s limitations. Fixin’ to take delivery on a Honda CRF300L Rally. Happy Trails

You did not lay your Monkey down. It floated and sailed gracefully to the nearest shore line so you could land ho'... Wow. I stop framed you in the submerged Monkey and what way cool images those are. Loved the addition of a side kick and being able to see how the Monkey competes with others in its class. Very well done. And you intro was 😂... hope you guys do a Pt2 and pick up where the gate was closed.

That was some very tough riding for a Monkey. Limited travel suspension and 12 inch wheels make it a lot harder then a bigger bike. One big advantage is you can lift it over things very easy. I have the cheaper Ohlins shocks on mine, and the fork kit and it does help a LOT, but you can not get past the limited travel. Great video!

Well you certainly put both those bikes through their paces and the little Monkey did extremely well I feel. I'd love to see a similar ride out with a suspension upgrade to the bike. I suspect it will make a world of difference comparee to the stock undercarriage.

Its my favorite in the area for sure, if they'd open it up fully it would be fantastic. Ive only seen it open all the way once about 15 years ago, it comes out at Peavine Mtn near 501 on Hercules rd. Im heading back there myself when I get a weekend off to document it proper, its official name is "Enchanted Creek".

The Monkey just continues to shine. There is a 50lb weight difference between these two and it was immediately obvious once things got really tight. I turned the camera off when we finally realized we were on the wrong trail, but the Monkey made it back unassisted where the larger bike didn't.

Great video Thomas. I was really looking forward to seeing the monkey go through the trench right at the beginning of that trail, did you clip that part or did they fix it? It used to be a large trench right around the bend from the creek crossing right off of the main road. Ive always heard that trail referred to as Bone Hill or Robinson Gap Trail. Everytime I have ever been through there that gate has been closed. Not real sure where it comes out at past that gate, maybe big island?
@UncleVoodoo3 жыл бұрын
I did film crossing that creek at the beginning but the footage wasn’t good. I’ve since learned that this known as the “Enchanted Creek “ trail. I’ll be going back when it reopens in Aug. the exit if it were open all the way through comes out at Peavine Mountain, the same trail we were on in the “Muddy mountain mayhem “ video.

I haven’t really done a video on upgrades, just kinda showed new additions as I went along. The pipe I have is the Yosi RS3, but I just switched back to the stock pipe as I didn’t see any performance increase and wanted the bike to be quiet again..
@OldGreyDawg4 жыл бұрын
@@UncleVoodoo Interesting. A friend with much more riding experience than I suggested a louder pipe for safety rather than performance reasons. Yoshi is pretty pricey, but how do you put a price on safety? Thanks for the fun, informative videos!
@UncleVoodoo4 жыл бұрын
OldGreyDawg the “loud pipes save lives” thing is pretty much just a myth, it sounds reasonable but there is no data that supports it. I’ve had just as many close calls with quiet bikes and loud alike. High Viz clothing and riding on defense with the mindset that the cars around you absolutely CANNOT see you is a better strategy. People don’t pay attention to loud pipes or even flashing light, Harleys and even fire trucks get hit all the time. Be safe on your new Monkey, it’s a great little bike.

What’s the difference between the monkey and tw200? Looking at getting one
@UncleVoodoo4 жыл бұрын
the TW200 is a reg sized 200cc dual sport with larger than average tires, while the Monkey is a 125cc retro styled mini bike. Size and power are the biggest differences. TW200 more power better suspension Monkey maneuverability more comfortable twice the fuel range

Thx for posting. What is the speed at which we realize that the engine is outside its comfort zone. I see people driving at 60 mph but does it vibrate as hell ?
@UncleVoodoo4 жыл бұрын
I've done over 70 with no problem, vibrations weren't an issue. I try to keep it around 55 though for extended periods as its just a 125 and I don't want to damage the engine.

@@heythere1968 I haven’t been on a trail 125 so I can’t say for certain, but I can say that the monkey has one of the nicest seats on ant motorcycle.
