Thank you sir. Tooling around the backroads In Southern Az, I've only had to hit the reserve on my Halcyon 250 one time. That was at 92 miles, just as I was rolling into a gas station...

I did the usual progression of chasing capacity and bhp over my 25 years of riding for fun and commuting all year round. My last bike was a 2011 GSXR1000 with 180bhp which I had a few a year or so and I think it went above certain speeds on about 5 rides. Traded in for a 2024 Triumph Trident 660 with 80bhp after test riding and finding out it was more than enough for all my needs and much more fun. Have a friend with an Interceptor and I'll be keeping the 660 for 5 years to get my moneys worth and then getting the Interceptor/GT! Great vids 👍🏻

Wow! This Chinese engine they use in this bike, looks and sounds like a Honda MoPed. The idea of building a bike that looks like it was developed in the mid 20s is interesting. However, that Chinese engine is a turn off for me as a collector and these bikes are way over priced for us average collectors for what is offered. I’d rather buy an old Cushman scooter or an older Mustang scooter from the 50-60s.
@UncleVoodoo3 күн бұрын
It probably sounds like a "Honda moped" since Honda designed the engine,... and had the Chinese, Pakistanis and Brazilians build it for them. This engine has been in production around the world for nearly 50 years now and is a proven workhorse. Also your comment is exactly the type of nonsense I was talking about in the video. Fix it again Tony.

Great story Voodoo. Personally, I would have ignored all the advice and got the 500. I say this because I have owned 2 Fiat 126 De Villes during my driving life and they were like go karts to drive and immense fun to own. I am 61 and live in the UK. In 2003 I finally took my bike test after riding illegally for 'quite a few years'. Most of my mates advised me that a Honda CB600 Hornet was too powerful as a first big bike. I owned that bike for 20 years before it was stolen and only came off it in the last year I owned it with a combination of gravel and slightly too fast going into a corner. Life eh!

Why does it matter what they buy? buy whatever crap you want, especially if you have fun with it. And suboptimal logic based on false baselines don‘t make things better. You bought Crappy cars in the past as easy as today. Reasons were different, sometimes (as cutting more than just corners existed all along in consumerism Industry) but to a consumer it‘s the same annoyance.

it is 07:00 here on the Isle of Man and you have made my day already Sir, thank you very much. For a moment I thought you had one of our registration plates but then put the glasses on and saw JM, not IM! We have masses of the originals here and only last Saturday my new Kawa 650 was nestled up alongside a 1937 BSA!

👍🏻👍🏻, i hope you still have a strong back with that hardtail. 🇳🇱NL 2000 Transalp.
@UncleVoodoo7 күн бұрын
All jokes aside- The hardtail isn't nearly as bad as people assume. The sprung saddle is actually comfortable and enjoyable, it's a "different" experience- it's not comparable to a hardtail chopper. I can actually spend more time in the saddle on the hardtail than I can on my Continental GT. The stock Janus seat was pretty awful but the upgraded seat has been great.

I asked the same question when you can buy a 450 ! Yes more expensive but if you're already overpaying for a 250, you might as well get the bigger engine.

There is a motorcycle company in Wales called Wardill motorcycles that make old school motorcycles. They are flat tankers with girder forks all hand made. Wardill motorcycles were first established in 1927 so have a bit of history behind them. A quick video to watch is ‘starting a Wardill5’. It would be interesting to hear your take on them.
@UncleVoodoo8 күн бұрын
It's an interesting bike, but there just isn't much information about them beyond promo material. So it's hard to do anything but speculate- The "heritage" seems legit. The ergonomics look a bit iffy as it was designed to mimic the guy's great grandfather's race prototype, so rider comfort probably wasn't much of a concern. It should be faster than the Janus stock for stock as it's using a Suzuki derived OHC 250 vs the OHV 230 engine Janus uses. I think Mutt motorcycles use the same engine. No kickstart. The Smiths speedometer is a nice touch. The starting price is a bit high at over 12,5000GBP, that's 2X the cost of the Janus. The cost can be justifiable though based on the hand made small scale manufacturing but the question will be - are there enough buyers for it at that price? There is a bit of a market for that type of bike over there as I get asked if Janus sells to the UK and Europe quite a bit, so I'd like to see them succeed.
@wozza597 күн бұрын
@ Thank you for a very informative reply. The Wardill does interest me, but the £12,500 price tag is a little more than I would want to pay. Unfortunately sale of internal combustion engined vehicles are banned in the UK from 2030.

Totally agree. My most memorable car I ever had is a Citroen 2CV. Google it if you don't know the vehicle. "Conventionality is the last refuge of the unimaginative" One of Oscar Wilde's quotes I think. And it's oh so true.

That sir, was an excellent dissertation on life! I especially liked the last bit about being married 3 times and how the first two wives were much more of a pain in the butt than the hard tail Halcyon 250 could ever give you!! That is the quote of the century! I do believe I will use that, as I too, like you, am on wife no. 3 and have learned much about pain and suffering! So here I sit with my Halcyon 250 in my living room, “old Ironsides”, with the motocult goodies in the engine and on the bike, to make it better than the H450, almost the same power at 100 lbs less weight, and so much a joy to ride!
@UncleVoodoo8 күн бұрын
Not sure how I even came up with the "pain and suffering" line, but I thought it was fitting... plus it's kinda funny so I figured that'd be a good ending to the video. My muffler is a little more restricted (quieter) than other MC pipes so I'm not quite making full power. The light weight is almost comical, when I get on my other bike the difference beyond dramatic.
