Honda Grom SP | First Ride

I'm 67 and been steadily downsizing for a while. Can't push the big stuff around any more. Just bought a 23 Grom and absolutely loved it. I ride around country roads in the German/Dutch border area and it does everything I need it to. My modifications. Fitted GL1800 footrests = brilliant Fitted a gear selector shaft support bracket and a precision ball end selector linkage. = absolute must. Gear selection is 98% perfect and neutral selection is much better. Fitted a rack. Removed the strap Lowered the rear brake pedal a bit = a bastard job. Fitted decent American chain adjusters with paddock stand bobbins. = absolute must. Fitted YSS rear shock = very noticeable. Won't be messing around with the exhaust or engine, for an old man it's great as it is. I'm sure I will find something else to do. I've heard a Michelin tyre upgrade is worth while. I think that's it for the 1st 2 months of ownership. And no, other bikes don't wave.

@@timsatchell6713 I’ve just peaked into my 50’s and have been loving being back on small bikes for a while now, everything about them is ace.. the strap came off then went back on because I didn’t like the crease it left in the seat once off 🤣 it will come back off though as that’s where my arse likes to naturally sit.. I deffo won’t be doing the exhaust or anything to the motor.. there is definitely a bit of big bike snobbery when it comes to other riders not nodding back but you know what I always nod and give everyone the opportunity 👍.. deffo need a rack and that’s probably it… thanks for watching and keep your eye out for our Grom vlogs from me and the young fella on his Grom sf… safe riding mate

Always nice to have a new bike. And I do like the small bikes. I have a CB125 F and love it for commuting leaving my big bike for the long runs. Wish you many great rides ahead. Cheers

The mighty Grom is a great bike. Especially since they added the 5th gear. Mini motos are fun per dollar than any other bike!

Love my 23 Grom, Leo Vince LV10 exhaust makes it sound like a moto gp bike 😅, its £6 to fill the tank and does150mpg, full throttle everywhere as peak power is top of the rev range, put Gold short levers on it, pyramid plastics handguards and rear rack and a Tutoro chain oiler, definitely smiles for miles 😁👍🏻

Mine is definitely a keeper 👍, mine’s currently showing ridiculous mpg 🤣 and I never fails to put a big smile on my face… only thing I’m going to do with it is a rack, better chain and sprockets and some mirror extenders… I like stuff as stock as possible… oh and a couple of GoPro mounts haha

I had another project on the go and needed the space which sounds daft as it’s a mini bike right 🤣 but I also wanted to get rid of a bike that was just lurking in the garage so I swapped the monkey for a project and got rid of a cbr500r for the Grom… I loved the monkey and deffo wouldn’t rule another out at some point but for now is Grom all the way… hope you stick around and I’ll catch up with you at some point soon I hope👍🏼

@@NorthernMotovlog I put road tyres on mine. Michelin city grips. Much quieter and cornering is now somewhat awesome. If I entered the tt I would be a winner. Maybe a few engine mods first 🤔
