I'm not sure "I'd get this bike for my wife" is really a compliment! Seriously though, I bought one recently and absolutely love it. I've been riding over 40 years on all sorts of bikes, and this is the best all rounder I've ever owned.

Yeah, it's compliment to the approachability of the bike, and my wife had expressed a small interest in the DCT, so after riding this one it seems the ideal candidate for her if/when she wants to ride! I agree on the all arounder comment: it's just so dang practical, well-behaved, that you can't ignore that. I love it for that reason. I use my bike as a means of a transportation regularly, not just a weekend toy. Thanks!

I finally found a 2022 750X bike. The Honda has 2000 miles and heated grips and Honda luggage. Plenty of power smooth shifts. I have owned over 100 street bikes, no kidding. This is one of my favorites. Tell you what, ounce you ride a DCT automatic it’s hard to imagine going back to a clutch. I’m 59 yrs old and 5.08. Perfect bike for me. Excellent gas mileage, good in the twistys, and the frunk is perfect a small grocery run. Honda Nailed It!

Have been riding for decades. Dispatch riding in London for 4 years in the 80's. Bought my NC750 DCT a year ago. Excellent bike, just the best. Won't be going back to gear shift. Could do with a little more horsepower, but not biggy. Loading my shopping into it, or my helmet, just soooo good. Riding winter and summer all year makes this perfect. If you want to pop wheelies, and burn off from the lights, then not this bike. You want the most practical bike on the Market, this is it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree with you. This bike gets a lot of flak for "having no character", but it's not meant to burn up the streets, or out perform other bikes. It's very pragmatic and useable. Like the family sedan! I really appreciate it for that.

A great review. No problem with my 2020 750XD (DCT) model. I live in Central Mexico and having a reliable bike which can travel distances without any worry and on which most maintenance can be easily done at home is a major selling point with this bike. Its frugal when it comes to fuel consumption even when riding at maximum highway speeds. I just completed a 2,400 kms round trip from Mexico City to McAllen, TX over 3 days - yeah! I was in a rush to get back home - and averaged around 3.5 litres per 100 km. Although some folks report the seat is a bit uncomfortable for a long rides I don't find that the case after fitting my bike with a natural sheepskin seat cover. This bike is also able to handle light off road such as gravel or dirt tracks especially if the stock tyres are upgraded to more suitable off road ones. For commuting and general riding the DCT transmission works like a dream and the sheer pleasure of not needing to manually change gears is great. The only downside to this bike is that its a bit on the heavy side but once its in motion it balances really nicely and handles very well. Love my bike!

These bikes are great for commuting and just riding the back roads. I love the frunk because it makes it so practical. They're low maintenance and get great fuel economy. My only wish is that it had cruise control, but these are made to a price point. I have a '22 manual and I love it and don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon.

This was the first year I've ridden a DCT, but I have heard the refinements in it over the years has gotten better and better, making it more seamless. Still, it's not for everyone, but certainly has a lot of appeal for various situations.

You said at around 4:40 that "not having to worry about shifting or controlling the clutch lever etc .... can help you really focus on the ride itself". Before I ever rode my first bike with a DCT I would've said: "I've been riding bikes for decades, I shift intuitively, I don't even need to think about it." But - this "automatic" actually does free you from the the shifting process, and I realized that I had more time to take in the scenery and was more relaxed.
@ghostontwowheels
@ghostontwowheels 3 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I had been interested in the DCT, but admittedly I was thinking I would still prefer the clutch lever and all for more control, but I was proven wrong, and that's ok! I wish I had one for when I go in to work. Bad traffic here, so I wouldn't tire out my clutch hand!

Thanks for checking it out! I was very impressed with it. Again, DCT is a game-changer. Certainly not for everyone, but if manual shifting is a concern then this certainly does away with that. Also, like I mentioned I would love it for commuting to work. I go into Atlanta for my office job a couple days a week and this would be wonderful! Some people will hate on it because it is like a scooter with the "twist and go", but I say if you're on two wheels it's all good! I like it!

Don't underestimate the ADV capacity on the NC750X DCT. A Canadian living in Thailand have put over 260 000 KM/161 000 Miles on it in a few years somewhat rough conditions. He have been driving a lot in different countries in South East Asia on dirt roads, mud roads and off road. And been all the way up in the Himalayan mountains to the first Base Camp at Mt. Everest. A russian man living in Germany had a non DCT and went all over East Europe to Central Asia on bad roads, gravel roads, dirt roads, mud roads and even over rivers. I am not sure if the new model with shorter front suspension will still do the roughest stuff those mentioned men did. But it sure is more than a every day bike for sure.

Oh I'm sure it can do it. Got a buddy with the NC700X (not DCT) who takes his off roading, but he did have to upgrade the suspension and then put knobbies on it. My point was out of the box it's really more "road adventure" than "dirt adventure". If you're doing a bunch of ADV stuff I'd still recommend a spoked-wheel bike, and something with a little bit more off-road DNA built in to it, but you are right, this could certainly go ADV with a few tweaks! Thanks!

I'm glad to hear a review from a taller rider. At 6'4" ergonomics are always an issue. The DCT gives me the opportunity to get back on 2 wheels after a work related accident left me unable to adeptly manipulate a clutch. I'm definitely going to give these a look.
@ghostontwowheels
@ghostontwowheels 9 ай бұрын
You probably heard, but Honda has developed an e-clutch as well today seems to be a bridge of quick shifter and an automatic, where you still shift but you don't need to use the lever. I want to see more about that. Anyway, the NC is just a basic, solid bike. Good luck with the 2 wheels journey! Glad there are options like this now. Thanks for checking out the video.

@ghostontwowheels I've read up on those too. I've thought about just adding on the foot shifter instead of using the paddle version already on the bike but honestly, I just enjoy the ride and it seems as if sport mode is a big perk to make things a bit more lively. At 52, I'm not really looking for a track day anymore, it's just about getting out and enjoying myself.

Thanks! It's a neat piece of engineering. I really like it. And it seems like Honda has refined this very well. Once I was into the ride I wasn't worried that it would shift in a corner and cause any instability. It was a concern initially about a "rough shift" leaned over, but even when it did it was so smooth I just forgot it was even shifting. I could enjoy the ride itself so much more. Have you ever tried the "Nanny aids"? I was looking for a used manual because I thought that it's lighter, cheaper, less can go wrong, and I don't need a DCT. I am loving mine so far. Same color as this one. I did get a taller windscreen, handlebar riser, crash bars, handguards, and I'm about to install driving lights and usb outlet. The lights are decent but have severe blindspot in the turns. I also have sw-motech saddlebags for the long trips but don't keep them on all the time. Much like my Versys, it's under Kawasaki's "Adventure", or an "Adventure Touring", but I agree the "ADV" letters implies off-road usage. But I know someone who took an NC700 off road like a champ. Put some knobbies on with a little improved suspension and you can do some stuff. Technically any bike can be an ADV bike if you're brave enough... or stupid enough! lol Thanks for checking out the video!

Please comment on the comfortability for your height. I am also a tall rider at 6ft 1 inch. I have my eye on this bike, but I am concerned about seat height. Thanks.

I ride 2019 NC 750x manual. I am 6ft 3'' with 36" inseam. Went to alps with this bike. Litle bit cramped, but you can always stand up and strech. It is fine up to 400km, after that, I need a rest :)

I thought how I was sitting initially I would feel a bit cramped, but it seemed pretty comfortable to me, but it was only a 20 minute ride. I am 6'2" and while it's not a huge bike I still felt very comfortable on it. I usually have to take breaks for my but before my legs. 😅

@@ghostontwowheels exactly,so do what I did ,I purchased a new NT 1100 dct from a English dealer,plated with a English tag ,an had it shipped as a touring the world bike, English plates are good in states ,think of all those people traveling the world,you really think they buy a bike every time they go into another country it's the trade agreement as alliance to NATO &TRADE . I've done this several times.it might be a little more pricey,but I have several bikes in states,that still aren't here. Like the Honda Forza 750 scooter dct , it's like X ADV750 but more ability for off-road duties.. got three shipped by air an by sea ,yup . Used them for 8 months respectfully,keeping mileage down then sold them quickly,to those around me paying attention broke even on two the last gave me a little bit more,an I just purchased another XADV750, an registered to my boat as I ATV land toy for countries I'll visit by sea.i bought three NT1100 dct bikes one is registered to boat one I cruised around the dragon tail north&south thru Georgia up Tennessee and Kentucky to Missouri. Switched bikes for different color an did Missouri Oklahoma New Mexico Arizona Utah Wyoming Nebraska back to Missouri, last year did a private sale auction too several people,that knew what I did ,an poof gone in a blink all. Remember Honda sales many vehicle vessels in states including some cars never originally sold here but we're shipped here by veterans administration,for those stationed over seas .there are so many buyers begging for the NT1100dct finding is like waving your hand after breaking wind.

Same. Versys 1000 is definitely better than this one, but it also costs twice as much as the NC, so it should be better! But the NC is still a nice little bike, and I hope it can bring more people into riding two wheels!

And please, can we get away from classifying bikes as men’s, or women’s? Women can ride anything they choose and so can men. It’s just an asswipe type of classification.

To clarify, while I did say I'd get this for my wife, that in no way limits it to saying this is a women's bike. As I also mention in the video I would use it a commuter, or even a light touring bike, and I would consider myself under that "men" classification. :-)

Having ridden north of a half century and owning over 30 bikes, I can't imagine "not" shifting...I'm not mocking those that enjoy this technology, but in my mind shifting is a big part of the magic..grabbing the clutch and massaging the gears is what riding is about......No disrespect to this young man narrating...just an old riders opinion..
@ghostontwowheels
@ghostontwowheels Жыл бұрын
I completely understand. I enjoy the shifting, and would prefer that as well, however for those that want to enjoy the ride, the scenery, the wind, etc, rather than focusing on what gear to be in this is a great option. I think it's a really good thing to have more options that can accommodate people getting on to two wheels. The idea of shifting manually can be a barrier, and right now the motorcycling community has too many barriers! Again, just glad there are more options to fit what each individual person wants! Thanks for checking out the video!

@@ghostontwowheels 100%. I'm taking the MSF course next week and it was this vs a Ninja 400/z400 as a beginner bike. The fact that I can pay attention to other drivers, the road, conditions, counter-steering and not worry about clutch control or stalling out is why I'm choosing this. It would be amazing if there was a 300/400cc sportbike engine that had DCT. I would be all over that.

The DCT is a wonderful thing for some riders that don’t want a clutch. The same people that criticize that tech are the same folks that drive their auto transmission cars, but want everything to stay the same with the buggy whip and horse of two wheels. The Livewire brand and twist and go are great!
