As I have said before I am not a Professional Rider but just an enthusiastic person who loves to discover new places and countries on a reliable motorcycle. Honda NC750X is a popular model globally and is becoming more and more popular with people that are looking for something comfortable, efficient and durable.

My 2013 NC700 has done 150,000km, never cleaned, never repaired, never dropped. Chains last 50,000, and I change the oil every 40,000km, and it's still good. Mobil 1 only. 80 to 85 mpg. It's been awesome. A bit heavy and gutless, let down by cheap brakes and suspension, but awesome value and economy. All commuting in New Zealand.

While not technically an ADV bike, adventure is what you make it. Mike proves that, indeed, the nc750x is an adventure bike if you want it to be. Iv'e watched a lot of technical reviews of this bike, but this is the best. Covered in mud and dropped a few dozen times ... now that's a true test of its metal.

Thanks a lot for sharing! Your videos and updates are one of the reasons I trust my NC so much. It has 116,000 KM, which might seem like a lot to people who ride bikes fron a different brand, but for the NC it's practically nothing. Ride safe, and keep up with the good content!

Great review!! I drove my 2015 NC750XA to Argentina from Las Vegas in 2018. Thoroughly Enjoyed the trip. Sat on a small pillow bought from wallmart so my butt don't get soar. Also, I put myself some cruiser foot pegs early on so I can stretch my legs forward to rest them there. Have about 40000kms on it. Next NC750 I get will be the DCT version. Glad to hear it easily does 200000kms! :)

Hi Mike - one of your earlier videos inspired me to buy this bike midway through 2020 as a retirement gift to myself. I have the DCT version. I've only done about 6500 kms due to having a couple of non bike related accidens over the past 18 months. Last week I undertook a crazy trip. Although British by birth I've been based in Mexico for half of my life and a couple of weeks back I undertook a rush round trip from Mexico City to McAllen, Texas to buy a drone - a DJI Mini 3 Pro - and save around 30% avoiding paying import duities. The round trip was 2,400 kms traveling most of the time at maximum highway speeds in hot and windy conditions both at day and night. With a few rest stops on the way and a couple of hours of sleep during he early morning hours I covered the round trip in just a shade over 54 hrs. The bike never faulted and gave me a consumption of 3.4 liters of gas per 100 kms. Love my bike. Its a pleasure to ride and is totally reliable. Great review MIke.

Hey Mike, Just got to this video. Man, am I impressed or what! There are soooooo many other types and makes of bikes that sure seem that would make for better suited for your needs. But, you've chosen the NC750X and, the DCT model too, YAHOOOO! I had an '18 Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT and loved it. But after about 3 years and only 7,500 miles, I determined it was just plain too big. I have replaced it with a 2020 NC750X DCT and have only had it for a couple of weeks. So far, I'm totally happy with this NC. I know this is not important to you but, the bike I bought was ALL BLACK when I purchased it and I hate black but, it was the only one available in the western part of the U.S that fit the bill for me. So, I bought it. I just finished reassembling it due to me painting all the black parts. Now, it looks like a motorcycle to me, not a black blob. Anyway, back to you and your adventures and your analysis of the NC750X. You have confirmed what I've seen so many times in videos. And that is the fact that about 99.999% of the riders and testers of the NC750X (and the DCT) are totally happy with it. You have stated that you have been on many, many trips to various places. That is absolutely great. I never want to know anyones personal life but, may I ask what you do or did for a living to be able to afford not only the cost of ALL those trips but, also to have the time available for each one? I envy the heck out of you Sir. We (the Wife and I) live in the Sw part of AZ in the U.S.A. and not much by way of scenery here but, it's what we have so, we enjoy what we can. Thanks so much for a detailed review and being a confirmed NC rider. SR

I hope you subscribe to my channel is I have some other videos as well. I can afford this lifestyle because I live in Thailand where the cost of living is at least half of what I would spend in Canada. I also ride a CRF 250l which I love to ride when I go to Laos or less traveled roads, it is super light in comparison, but I still plan to use my n.c. until it dies or maybe it will be me first!!!!! I have mentioned this on a few other channels that make reference to you and your trustworthy NC750X, but you are a "walking & talking" infomercial for this Honda bike, & for the dependability of Honda motorcycles in general. At the very least, and my view on this subject is hardly unique, but I am shocked that Honda is not sponsoring your adventures & providing you with a new NC750X. Your riding experiences and ongoing product testimonials, are without any doubt, the most significant reasons why I've decided to purchase this specific "Mak Mak" motorbike. Chok dee Mike!

Well I appreciate your comments but I'm just a little fish in a big sea, and most likely I also live in Thailand where maybe if I was Thai Honda would give me more of a pat on the back but I'm a foreigner here living in the land of smiles. I really like what Honda has introduced to the market with this bike. I think many people don't fully comprehend the design goals Honda was aiming for with this bike. Easy handling and economical in every way; affordable price, great fuel consumption, easy to maintain and long maintenance intervals. Have you ever had to remove or disconnect the fuel tank for maintenance purposes? Ever had to take the front trunk of for any reason? What other bike in the world can run for 200.000 km without the need to disconnect the fuel tank even once? I love what you've done to the bike and how you are proving all the marketing surrounding the "true" adv bikes is just a bunch of nonsense. I hope you have many trouble free and safe kilometers ahead of you with this beautiful machine. Drive safe!

I have the 2016 S version with DCT, but i've had to have the motor inside the DCT (the one that switches between the clutches) replaced twice now and i'm only at 65.000 km. The first time it fell under warranty, so no big deal but the second time i've had to pay full price... Other than that, also a great bike for typical european roads and road touring. I'm planning to buy the X version when i get tired of mine. I agree 100% that the DCT is awesome. Since 2016 they did a revision of the DCT and they absolutely nailed it. @@stephenevans596 Hi Stephen, you're right, after 1000 miles I know, it was the best decision, DCT does great work, power enough for less weight and very easily handling. We are same generation and therefore I owned many years ago an FJ1200 too. Unfortunately I sold them in the late 90's, both to have in the garage would be the best connection, combined with beautiful memories of Italy trips, etc. I think I still have good times ahead with the NC, it now suits my needs perfectly. Brilliant video - I've been riding for a year and am on a Yamaha 125, but looking at the NC750X DCT as my next step up when I my full licence. I've heard really good things about this bike - it looks like you have a lot of fun on it and it's great to see the sort of off road stuff it can deal with.

If you would like a little more room on the CT125, just turn your handlebar risers around as that will give you a little more reach to the bars. Also a good time to replace the fork caps with fork caps with a 1" (approximately) additional length to stiffen that front fork. Hope to see you around Thailand. I live in Mahasarakham part time.

What a dream! I recently started my journey with the NC in Thailand. Instead of the maintenance cost and impending issues worries; I am much more concerned about how my body will handle the mileage (carpal tunnel creeping). I never imagined to be able to go to China or Tibet as a white man but you're giving me ideas! What tires??? What seat upgrade/change? How do you fit the windscreen on it? I assume it's a 2014-2015 model that has different bolts!

Great to hear and enjoy your riding and Amazing Thailand. Ask for tires I use Continental tkc 70, it's a 70/30 tire and awesome in all conditions. This is my 16th set of tires and these are my favorites. Well the screen I actually just replaced it with an original one that I found on Lazada because you couldn't even see through it anymore it turned white. But definitely a lot of options regarding the screen.. I did a little modification on the seat because I'm only 5'4 but it's the original seat and I use a comfy cheek seat pad on long rides but lately I won't even need it cuz my ass is just like leather and I just completed an 800 km charity ride in one day without even having any issues with my ass. If you want to message me anytime I'm on Facebook has Mike FreeRider Gagne and my travel Facebook page is Amazing Thailand touring ATT. Feel free to reach out anytime

Thank you for the review, in comparison with your NC mine it's still a baby at 41,000 Km 😁. Nice to hear that your bearings lasted so much, are you using the OEM bearings? Could you please provide us a link with the brand of the front suspension? How are your TKC tyres on wet tarmac, can you rely on them? Many thanks again for your review, it's so motivating to see the reliability of the NC. Greetings from Romania!
@mikefreeriderAsia
@mikefreeriderAsia 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, bearings are hit and miss,on my CB500X they only lasted 35,000 km on the rear so you try to avoid high pressure washing around that area and keep your chain adjusted properly so it doesn't put too much pressure on the bearings. The suspension is from YSS Thailand , I'm sure you can find their web page if not contact me because the suspension could be a little different for different model year. I really love the TKC tires , my first set was TKC 80s which are awesome in all conditions but the rear will not last very long approximately 10,000 K , so the last two sets I used the TKC 70 on the back , which lasts much longer. I also ran a pair of continental trail attack 3 which is a road tire Great in all conditions except for anything off-road. I've tried Dunlop, pirelli, Metzler, Heideneau, Shinko, and Mitas, but I love the Continentals. Please ride safe and give her good maintenance and she'll give you good performance

Howdy Mr. Mike! I've got a line on a 2020 NC750X DCT, with only 320 km on it. It's a close friend's bike who switched to a different platform (BMW). At 2:19 you mention that the NC is "not a true adventure bike". I've come across this opinion from other friends who are riders (not my friend who I'm looking to buy from, the BMW she switched to has an even lower center of gravity for her, and she can put her feet closer to the ground with the bmw than the nc though she understands is not best technique, she still wants to be able to, put both balls of her feet flat on the ground.) and other folks online say the same thing about the NC not being an adventure bike. I understand that the stock travel in the suspension is less than the Africa Twin etc. , but having a professional tune the suspension to ones weight and preferred characteristics should make up quite a bit. As you note, you have added the skid plate (meant to take a beating right?) bars, center stand, lights, panniers. All the things any other adventure bike has. Smashing the skid plate into a rock can throw the rider around, and on a single track that can be troublesome, I understand that. On rough forest roads rocks of course can be present (some forest roads quite narrow like in your video), but you are riding them. Honda has this bike in the "adventure" category on their website, and looking at the riding you're doing, it sure looks like a great actual "adventure bike". I recognize that a full on Africa Twin is superior for suspension off road and has more rider mode options, larger fuel tank, bigger wheels. It is also $5K more stock. To me your fun and informative video showing all the travel you have down in far off, remote, non paved places shows it really is an adventure bike, maybe just not one that you will take on single track (I'll do that on my KTM 300 xcw anyhow) or go race the Dakar with. High fives on "Realizing Your Dreams" and living it!!
@mikefreeriderAsia
@mikefreeriderAsia 2 жыл бұрын
I guess the interpretation is adventure bike. For me it's been more than an adventure bike it's taking me everywhere and without any major issues. As you might know I'm short I'm 5'4 so I'm vertically challenged and off-road you need to get your feet down and I've fallen down many times because I couldn't get my feet down as I'm riding now on my tippy toes. The NC can be raised with different dog bones and mine is actually a little bit higher because I have changed the rear shock and it raised it probably close to 2 in and actually was a little bit of a problem for me. The skid plate has done its job and is an SW motec and it is bashed but still functioning I guess that's what it's supposed to do. If I'm going to do single track or go back to Laos in the future I might use my CRF250L because it's light, nimble and easily repaired. I'm also getting to be older I will be turning 68 this summer but I hope my motorcycle will last a few more years and the way things are going it probably last longer than me. Anyway I would have no issue getting a new one as it ticks all my bells. If you ever want to discuss anything else please just send me a message on messenger and I can respond. You can find me quite easily on Facebook at Mike FreeRider Gagne
