The NSX has always been "over priced". When the car launched 25 years ago it costed a whooping 80 grand. Translate that inflation to now and that will be roughly the same price as the new NSX. What? You guys expected the car to be the same price as a 09' R35 GTR, because it happens to have a Japanese nameplate? Or you still think that it'll still be worth $80,000 because you all are clearly too young or too ignorant to know how inflation works. Plus people said the old NSX wasn't worth the money then, because it was "underpowered" compared to its competition. But *one* thing the NSX always had over it's competition was reliability and technology. The NSX was NEVER intended to be a record breaker, it was meant to be an experiment of creating the supercar of the future. It was more about driver feel rather than maddening laptimes. If it wasn't for the NSX, the R8 wouldn't even exist. And the new NSX is following the same footsteps, but you people are so blinded by the past and everything Motor Trend says that you can't see that... What am I trying to say? People need to stop expecting every supercar to have 650+ hp, and get laptimes of under 7 minutes at the Nurbergring and understand what the NSX is ACTUALLY doing. It's an experiment showing people how supercars could be in the future ahead. It's calm and civil, yet brash and heart stopping. The R8 and NSX both are amazing, and it won't be that easy to choose if I had the money to pick only one. But the NSX will not be a simple push off in my book simply because it didn't beat a freaking Mustang at Best Drivers Car 2016, and what a bunch teenage boy racers say on the internet. I know I'm going on, but this needs to be said. I'm so sick and tired of people saying the new NSX "isn't worth it", but yet turn around and praise the old NSX not understanding that both old and new did and is doing the same thing, and because the new car is not naturally aspirated with a 3 pedal manual transmission "like the old car" because they are stuck in a time warp of the past... I promise you all, like the old car the new NSX will be getting the last laugh... And once again doubters will be turned into believers. Now. Back to enjoying this great review of two great automobiles by Carfection. Oh. And make sure you new comers hit the subscribe button. It'll be worth it.

krocialblack Thank you for clarifying for the uneducated. I've had my eye on this car since it was a concept. I keep a picture of the roadster variant in my phone because it is captivating. Personally, I liked the R8 when I first saw it in Iron Man, and that was my preferred vehicle until this came along. When I build my business to the level where I can buy the toys I prefer, I'm getting both! (But I'll only break out my NSX for when I REALLY want to misbehave.)

Oh people don't have a problem with the hybrid turbo set up. People have a problem with the price point alone. Honestly, people wouldn't even have a problem with it being slower than its competitors. What IS a problem is the fact that Honda has inserted all these computer aids that interferes rather than supplements the driver, hence all these negative reviews on how it drives. If it has all these interferences, where else can it make up for it? Speed? Nope. Price? Nope. Excitement (engine-wise)? Nope. THAT'S why people complain. If the NSX stood out in any SINGLE one of those categories, it'd be great! But it fails in the most important one (Driver focused), and yet doesn't make up for it in other cases either. And just to mention, I know just about every road super car nowadays is computer aided. But what makes a great supercar, with computer aids, is the fact that the computers are able to do their job, without the driver knowing its there. Think 570S, 911, 488, etc.

How do you judge excitement except for driving the car? The only people who threw the car around was Chris Harris in his review and he was very clear about how exciting the car can be. The GTR was claimed to boring too but if you drive one you'll see how much closer to the limit of performance you can drive and enjoy yourself. The NSX is expensive because you pay for what you don't necessarily see like reliability. It isn't cheap to engineer a car and its parts to last.

I 100% agree with you. I have a 2002 and 2021 NSX with many other cars. I had many other cars and the NSX distinguished itself by how easy it is to drive, how reliable it is to own and how fun the car is. My 2002 still feels lik a brand new car. My old Lamborghini Diablo always felt it was falling apart. Every spring, it would end up in a shop for a couple of weeks for maintenance and repairs. I sold it because of that. My 2 NSXs are cars that you can put mileage and enjoy with little depreciation! This is rare in the supercar world!

Actually, they've just pushed technology with the NSX. During that time the NSX was the most high-tech car you can get for that money. The same with the new one, they're pushing the technology (e.g. torque vectoring). All these "geeky" things you said will eventually be standard in a lot of future sports/super cars. There is no standard formula. The formula for the NSX has always been technology, which is never constant.

You do realize that the EU is already cracking down on manufacturers who cannot meet emission standards. The NSX basically is set for the next couple years from being hit with additional taxes, fees and fines for not meeting regs. It's supposed to be about the latest tech available. The old NSX was ahead of its time. The new NSX even more so.

What's sad for Honda is that it's main goal/selling point is to be the best everyday super car. It was released after the R8 V10Plus. Yet the R8 V10Plus is the better everyday supercar in every category. It is just better for everyday and on the track.

The only real issue I have with Honda (and japanese cars generally) is that their interior quality and design has improved little since the 80s and 90s. They have to improve BOTH especially in this league and at this price.

Having owned an NSX of the past, I wanted this car dearly, but alas, it took took too long to come out, and they debuted it to the eyes of the public so far in advance of the actual launch, that it already seems rather "old", like it has been around for 3-5 years. Already, I am waiting for the refresh. Honda, lets bring on the same body, white, light weight (3100lbs), low tech, no electric motors, type R model and price it at 110K and compete with 911R and 911GTRS. Lower tech/ hi performance / hi driver involvement please.

It's amazing that Audi can still put that engine into a road car at all with the current climate (literal and figurative). But thank goodness they can. The R8 has never been one of my favourites, but that sound alone has to be worth the asking price (they're about 50 quid, right?). I doubt the NSX will ever be as widely loved and covetted as the original, but it's great to have Honda making fast cars again. They're so good at it. Let's hope they get their shit together in time for the next F1 season!

Where is progress in following the same format of creating a supercar? If V10 is the engine of the future, then why is F1 not going in that direction? The old school V10 may sound better; however, sounding better does not equal progress. People have said the same thing when Compact Discs first came out. I, at least, would give Honda credit for trying something different.

needs better sound, redo the interior, remove 399+ lbs and still it's pretty amazing, and something of a bargain if it has honda reliability

I've seen both in person. NSX looks better, R8 interior is way better though. I'd pick the NSX, only super hybrid for under 200k.

Taking in consideration possible problems in future maintenance of NSX,AUDI-Lambo engine and drive train is with no doubt much better option
