Yeah I'm pretty sure the tank decals get clear coated over, while the rear does not. I doubt you won't have issues with the tank decals......you'll see

Tank decals does have clear coat over, Made a big mistake removing right side honda wing on my matte grey tank.

Someone said the finish is on top of the decals. Is this not the case?

I highly doubt it. Decal application is normally one of the last steps in assembly, long after painting. Also, my paint still looks pretty uniform after the decal removal.
