I did a lot of changes to my '23 500, some just cosmetic, but some I absolutely needed. The ones I wouldn't do with out: Puig Dark night semi fairing, vital for the wind blasting me in my chest, Givi engine guards, some grip puppies on the handles, not heated but makes the grip much more comfy, a Mustang seat to get some better padding, a Givi top case plus Honda OEM bags on either side of the rear fender, and the one I most loved, a Red Dragon forward controls kit. The forward controls kit moved the foot pegs forward a little over 16cm, huge improvement on the ride comfort not having my legs tucked under me. There's a bunch of other silly cosmetic things, plus powered USB port for my phone and a quadlock, etc, but those I could live without. The first list took a really good bike and made it perfect.

Yes, the forward controls kit! I'll look into that! I love all those mods, sounds like what im going for with my 2019 rebel. Thanks for all the good suggestions 😀

Re the cold hands - I get the same. Heated grips tend to lose a lot of heat and, of course, only warm your palm with thin gloves, so the top of your hands still get cold! Seriously a really good cold-weather glove makes a huge difference but because I'm a massive baby I got heated gloves and they are brilliant! The gloves themselves are super warm anyway, but then you put the heat on it's lovely and you don't lose heat like you do with the grips. Mine are rechargeable, you can wire some into the the bike, but I didn't see the need. On low they last about 3 hrs, mid 1.5 hrs, high 1 hr; but if I'm out riding I'll tend to have them on for 20 mins, then off for an hr or 2, back on for 20, then off again etc. otherwise they get too hot! Plus it saves the battery. They're expensive but worth every penny!

Yes, heated grips sound like a great idea! I like how I could use them on my other bikes too 🙂 I am considering getting some so thanks for the info

I added a cargo rack instead of the pony seat, a set of Shad 23L side cases, a Dart flyscreen, Oxford heated grips, a Rokform handlebar phone mount, a Honda 12v charger hookup that doesn't work, and a truly bitchin' license plate frame. Having rented a Tiger 850 (loooooowered for my short self) in NZ with barkbuster handguards, that's the one thing that will make my bike year-round 100% usable as a commuter bike / weekender in Southern California. I love my Little Blue. He never disappoints.
@andymoto
@andymoto Жыл бұрын
Haha 😂 a number plate frame would actually be cool now you mention it. And so would the handguards, I do get really cold hands. You're mods sound very similar to what I'm thinking (except for the windscreen) and I'm going for practicality mostly too. Thanks for the ideas 😀

Hey Andy, Things I've done to my 23 Rebel are a Mustang Solo Tripper seat which really improved the length of time I can ride without butt ache. Fork covers and Fork gators , Vance and Hines slip-on muffler, Charging Port for my phone and ipod charging, Dart Classic Fly Screen which looks great and gets the wind off your chest , Vans soft grips, CMX adjustable levers, Red Dragon Forward Controls that are very comfortable , especially to move your right leg off of the clutch cover . Rear Luggage rack that I modified to support a 40/60 Rhinowalk bag. Other than that, I think you could make some of these mods to improve the look and ride of you Rebel as well. Take Care and Ride Safe DWL

Hi Darryl! That's a lot of mods 😎 I'm thinking luggage or specifically panniers are next for my 2019 rebel. I've also heard a lot of good things about the Mustang Tripper seats and the sore bottom is something I keep noticing 😂 Thanks for all the input! You ride safe too 😀

I have a 2021 se. Musarri exhaust, sounds awesome, light guards, rad guard, honda tank pads, dust caps, caution sticker on rad cap,crash bars similar to your own,2inch bar risers,quadlock, beeline moto sat nav, battery tender cable with an auxiliary USB charger for it. 2 bottle holders,honda soft luggage and aftermarket rear rack, moved number plate up to hide the hideous huge reflector and added a small round one on number plate. No forward controls as I have added con-stand fittings and they use the same fitting/bolts as the forward controls. Dropped mirrors to give a lower profile and as it is the se model and is matt metallic grey with satin black it's gotta get metzler whitewalls for looks and better grip.

Love everything you've done! 😀 I'm putting on some hard panniers for my next mod but then I'm not sure whether to go the quadlock with charger or do a separate USB port 🤔Bottle holders are also awesome but I don't' see them very often

When I had my Rebel 500 I looked into various "body kits" and did some research on the scoop / belly pan look, cause I think it looks awesome, but man did I get scared watching videos online. So many of them seem to be cheap crap, one melted to the exhaust and then caught fire. Others cracked due to using cheap plastics that did not withstand vibrations from engine etc. So if you are going for one for your bike, I would do proper research and get a quality one. Getting a good fairing / windscreen makes a world of difference though, I never got one for the 500, but opted for one on my 1100. When I saw the new hardbag / batwing version this year, I almost regretted selling my Rebels. Love the look of the fairing, and the practicality of having hardbags.

@andymoto Жыл бұрын
Whoa! Good to know, I defs don't want the rebel to catch fire 🔥 I'll have to see if I can find a decent brand or something. Wait, you sold both your rebels? 😮 Indian Scout? 😂Hard panniers are my next mod! 😎

@Duckie313 Жыл бұрын
@@andymoto no Scout, although I love the look of it. Made the mistake of test riding a Triumph Bobber, and it was too much fun. Could not get it out of my mind, and ended up buying one. It is the most impractical bike ever, but man do I love riding it.

Miller Custom exhaust is by far the best one I ever owned, kind of miffed they don't make one for my current bike, I want one so bad. I want nice sound, but not too loud, so I got the sport baffle from them and swapped out the standard Euro-5 one. Made the sound pretty much perfect. Beautiful deep sound, and just the right amount of loud, not even near obnoxious.

The fairing look super cool. I would go with some hand guards they make a huge difference I ride in summer gloves all year round since I fitted mine 😎👌

If I put hands guard on I feel like I'd have to beef up the bike with a belly pan to make it look the part. Hand guards could be a great mod tho! Thanks Bert 😀

Stock exhaust in this video looks way cooler than vance&haines
@andymoto
@andymoto Жыл бұрын
I do kind of agree. I don't think the v&h look beefy enough for the bike. I think if the stock exhaust was black instead, or sort of grey, it would look really good 😎
@bradroddenham6370
@bradroddenham6370 Жыл бұрын
I thought about the V&H exhaust as well, but I live in an apartment complex, and from all the reviews I saw it's loud, over 105dB, I believe. Good way to end up hated by EVERYONE. Stock exhaust on the Rebel is around 70dB at idle, up to the low 90s at higher rev, so much better for your hearing and your neighbor's sanity.
@andymoto

I think the rebel sounds good stock too, but I'd be okay with a little more volume 😉😂. When I visit people, they say I don't need to ring their doorbell, they can hear me coming. 😎
