A brick wall has a ton of compression strength (will not implode/crush easily) a little bit of head-on strength, but really none of that matters unless it is layed right, and especially jointed the right way ( this is what bonds each brick to the other, and is the most important factor for total wall strength), and allowed to cure for weeks / months
