I am a fan of the S 2000, when I test drove one in 2007 i was disappointed by the low torque figures, it is a car that strives on revs, it still remains an engineering marvel for a NA engine. I ended up buying a BMW Z4 roadster 3.0 straight six. Fast forward to 2020, I still a BMW 3.0 Si coupe and when I meet up with my friends with S2000 it's pure mutual respect and admiration of the era that produced these beautiful gem. I salute Honda for the S2000 and the reliability of the Honda VTEC is pure craftsmanship.

It sorta could, if Honda didn’t want to spend development $$$ they just go knocking on Mazda’s door and ask nicely to borrow their miata chassis put a Honda engine and Redesign the exterior and update the interior and tune it however they like, just like fiat did with the 124 Spyder.

Honda’s never borrows they build they are not Toyota ,BMW or Subaru etc. If Honda wants they build from scratch everything so when you drive a Honda it’s a Honda not some Mazda bmw Subaru or Toyota mashup. Yes it might make sense taking that route but hey the purist of pure will keep it pure so no selling souls here.

I have a Berlina black 2002 AP1 with still 90k miles and I LOVE IT! Still puts a smile on my face and a car that will forever be in my garage. There is no true replacement of the S2000, and honestly it’s perfect that way. Honda did a splendid job and no need to change it now. 9k every day! VTEC!!! Touge monster!!!

Great Video! There is a rattle in the first 15 minutes during the drive. Its a high pitch rattle, kind of like coins. If you have ever heard this in an s2000 its coming from the spring connected to the clutch peddle. This generally happens when lifting off the throttle and RPMs drop in the 2000-4500 range, and the car is allowed to coast. The engine produces a specific vibration at that RPM range when there is no throttle input that causes the sound. Easiest way to diagnose this, when you hear the sound, lightly apply pressure to the clutch peddle (not trying to engage the clutch). If the sound goes away then its the spring.

I have just witnessed yet one more indication of just how special the Honda S2000 really is. Of course I am referring to this video itself. Not only the great subject matter, but also the level of effort that must have gone into making this video. That you would research these cars to the level of detail that you did is impressive. However, that you would then go on to make sure that all of this detail was presented in a way that is easy to digest speaks to your dedication to your craft. I am guessing too that this is also an indication of just how much you yourself were inspired during your time spent learning about these cars. Thank you! Definitely subscribed.

I love the literature that is provided with each vehicle review by jdm masters. I worked for Honda Canada when the s2000 was brand new, and the literature that was dealer provided paled in comparison to the information given in the Japanese books. I still have all the books i could grab when this car was in dealer showrooms. Aftermarket or not. It is yet another shining example of the passion and meticulousness the Japanese have for their domestic machines.

I have an '03 Suzuka Blue with the same OEM front spoiler. I bought it four years ago with 33,000 miles. Now it has 88,000 miles, Rockford Fosgate speakers, and it's literally the perfect car. Sure it has its quirks but all of them are drowned out from how fun it is to drive and the compliments I get every time I fill up at gas station. I went from a 1990 MX5 to a 1999 10AE Miata and now this 2003 S2000. Every one became more refined. Yes, a S2000 is quieter at highway speeds and more comfortable than the Miatas. The difference is when you floor it, it's louder than a Ferrari F355 spider at wide open throttle.

With Japanese 100RON high octane fuel, gives it 250PS@8300rpm. Another correction : 33:00. It’s the other way around. I pointed to the exhaust can sprocket first then intake.
