Still a new rider, so I've only ridden solo. I have no real desire to ride in a large group because of all the risks, but I would absolutely love to ride with 1 or 2 close friends/family to cool destinations.

Definitely take things at your own pace. After all of my time riding, I still much prefer the solo experience. I can set my own pace.

Solo. Don't like to have to adapt to other people's riding style. I like to just relax and go at my own pace.

Haven’t ridden in a group for years. Last year I rode with a friend. I don’t mind riding solo or with friends. Usually the reason I don’t get to ride with friends. Is schedules,we never seem to be off work at the same time.
@meandmyshadow78392 күн бұрын
I know that if I had friends that ride, I probably would go with them as well. I'm just not to hip on big groups.

Dusty Shadow but started right up! Love the Shadows! 💪 Solo rides to go wherever, whenever, however. Although I'm going to do a group ride to get out of my element later this year.

Hey, I saw your channel mentioned on a Restless Mule video last night. It was an older one where he meets up with Midlife Moto, I was like, "Wait a minute, I know that guy!!!" LOL. Group rides (depending on what kind) are fine for me every once in a while. I guess I just view riding as more of a solo sport.

@meandmyshadow7839 @Restlessmule , @Mymidlifemoto & I were the three amigos for awhile here on KZbin. MyMidLifeMoto stopped posting some time ago and RestlessMule said he was just fine just too busy. Loved their meet up. Especially knowing the two goofs from here.

Solo. I find riding motorcycles to be a relaxing experience. If I am worried about keeping up with someone else or what they are doing I'm not going to be relaxed. With that being said if you have not ridden in a group before I'd say do it at least once. The charity ride I did last year actually was a pretty good time, I'm just not very social. You mentioned maybe adding a fairing for more protection, it seems like that windshield would do the trick.
@meandmyshadow78393 күн бұрын
Agreed on the windshield. I think I will hold off on the fairing. I also don't like to try and match someone else's riding style. I did do a toys for tots run a couple of years ago, and it was okay. Guess I'm just less social when it comes to riding.

@@meandmyshadow7839 Nothing wrong with being a less social rider. Afterall it is a therapy/meditation of sorts.

If you change your bars.keep in mind you will have to change your cables. & possibly extend wiring depending on what length of bars you choose. Ape hangers has been my experience.

I have no idea what I want yet. However, I know that I don't want really big ape hangers.

I solo most the time, but do not mind group rides, or poker runs.
@meandmyshadow78393 күн бұрын
I guess it depends on the type of group, but I also prefer solo
@PaulsMotoZen3 күн бұрын
@@meandmyshadow7839 I do like poker runs, which is a ride for some charity, or benefit. It is like a group ride, but you can go at your own pace, and get to see some sights that you may never have been to. You could end up getting a good hand, and leaving the event with more money than you started. Most poker rides are five hours and less.

I have been on a few big group rides, but they just aren't my thing. Structured and planned group rides have too many rules for me, takes the "rebel" "spirit" out of riding (2 honda references I know lol) Now I love riding with a few bros just bombing down backroads, no structure, just whipping past each other, laughing and having a blast and taking random side roads or shoulder shrug turns at intersections and riding for hours with no particular place to be. As far as big groups go, I love showing up at meets and hanging around a bunch of other bikers, but just no "parade" rides for me lol
@meandmyshadow7839Күн бұрын
I think that you nailed it. Way to structured.

I've commented on this in the past and I'm still NOT comfortable riding solo at age 72, I have about 56 years of riding experience and the Wife and I drove solo up until the early 2000's but the public has become increasingly aggressive and hostile over the years with drivers male or female wanting to tailgate you, bully you, and harass you to the point of you wanting to go postal on them because they believe that they have the God given right to drive as fast as they want and you are inconveniencing them because you were trained to drive safely and obey the posted speed limit, I would drive every single day if there were other dependable riders nearby for comfort and security, but if I cannot find another rider to join me I won't drive many miles in a season. 🤔😕
@meandmyshadow78392 күн бұрын
I completely understand. With all of the distraction that driver's have plus their overall rude behavior it has become increasingly unsafe for motorcycles on the road. You always have to have your wits about you and head on a swivel. There is a lot to be said for safety in numbers.

Keep the shield unless u get death wobbles at speed way more comfortable, personally I hate them. Just go silver Apes not black should maintain same look. Solo or duo good enough for me. MC groups admired for maintaining formation, looks tough/challenging inside the pack. Young packs I'd pull off the road for because you know there's 1 or 2 riding to show off way past their ability 💀.....
@meandmyshadow7839Күн бұрын
Great advice on the equipment, and thanks again to @LuckyAcesRiding. I may have a wind solution without having to worry about a fairing coming soon. I do agree that big groups of bikes in formation look awesome. However, I'm still not sure that would be for me. Solo seems to fit me better in most cases. Awesome comment, thank you!¡
