I still ride a 2000 Shadow 750 ACE, it would ride it anywhere anytime. Stone axe reliable doesn't even cover how reliable these bikes are. Is it fast? No. Is it comfortable? Yes, with upgraded suspension and easy bar changes and an upgraded seat, you can really put miles on these bikes, for a long LONG time.

I feel the same way. The shaft drive means minimal service intervals and with such a low output + low compression engine, it's nearly impossible to strain it. It handles the open roadways with minimal complaints and does it comfortably. Thanks for watching and ride safe on your 750 ACE! 😎

Wish it was a 1000cc shaft drive. Would fit in where indians scout 60 isnt made anymore. To me 750 is fine for around town but if i want to dp the 3 hour run each way to albuquerque its nice to have a bike that likes to run on tbe interstate like my old kawasaki 1600. Indian scout 1200 is a better interstate bike but 1000 would be better than 750 bro. To me what i like aboht the bike is the shaft drive and its cruiser genre lends to bigger gas tanks. But i wish it was bigger than a 750 imma be honest. 900cc is small for a cruiser to me. 1200 is like a good spot. 1500 1600, are good getting big though. 2000cc like the kawasaki vulcan 2000 are too big imo. Incredible cross countey but for day to day parkingtlot at the grocery its a big bike becomes a burden

I'm closing in on my 40s, but have dreamt of riding since a kid, hadn't thought about it much throughout my teens and twenties, until a flyer with the (then) new Kawasaki Vulcan S and immediately fell back in love with the metal-horses. I'm not looking for something super fast, just looking for something to cruise the commute to work or do simple rides, doing some sight-seeing with and it was a neck-on-neck race between a Shadow Phantom and Vulcan S for me for a while, right up to the 2024 Shadow; that's a beauty! Thanks for this amazing review! Unfortunately the Phantoms are pretty hard to come by here in Europe, but who knows, if the missus gives me a chance, I'll do my very best to get me one of those!
@Omni_Moto

It doesn't matter when you start riding, it just matters that you start. At one point, we were all new to it. Vulcan S is a more powerful and nimble machine, but if your goal is simple riding and sight-seeing like you've mentioned, the Shadow will keep you happy - bonus points since you like the style too! Glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks for watching. Ride safe. Cheers!

Every time I see on of these types of cruisers, I’m glad I still have my 1994 Honda 750 Magna. 53,000+ smiles on her clock and she weighs in at around 540 pounds and gets approximately 48-53 mpg and is damn fast! It’s a great bike and if you can find one you can get a good one for under $3,500.00. The only maintenance item I’ve replaced on this bike is the voltage regulator. Excluding fluids and filters and tires. The Michelin Commander II tires really make this bike come alive e as well with great wear mileage. Y other bike is its big brother the CTX1300A and is much better suited for long rides. The Shadow is also a great bike if you’re looking for something comfortable and easy to ride and you are. To a speed acceleration junkie like me.

If you're really in love with the look of the 2024 Shadow Phantom, go for it, it's an amazing bike. Otherwise, seriously consider a used Phantom or Aero. Yes, this year they added a rear disc brake, which is nice, but honestly you don't need it. The ancient rear drum brakes on the older models works just fine. As a very happy rider of a 2004 Shadow, I'm finding it impossible to justify the extra $5,000+ it would cost me to swap my bike for a new one. I wouldn't mind the upgrade to fuel injection, but I'm having zero problems with the carbs. If properly maintained, a Shadow 750 is immortal.

My friend recently picked up a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 about a month or two ago. He bought it from his supervisor at work. It belonged to his fiancés father who passed away, so it was well taken care of. After riding around with him for most of the day about three weeks or so ago I went looking at all of the Indian bikes to see what they had. So far the Sport Chief interests me the most out of all of the bikes. Doubt I'll ever own a Harley since I'm not a big fan of them. I also looked at the other Vulcans and Honda cruisers but they didn't really jump out at me. I checked out Yamaha as well but they don't seem to offer a v-twin anymore it seems. The only other bike that caught my eye was the Suzuki Boulevard M109 but it also seems to have the same problem as the Honda. The instrument panel is a bit outdated and the tach is a bit hard to see in certain lighting conditions. Other than that anyone who has them loves them and usually never gets rid of them. :)

@@TheAnnoyingBoss Which of the two did you prefer the most? I know some liked the smaller bike over the bigger one and vice versa. My friend's had his Vulcan 2000 since the beginning of summer and loves it a lot. He likes how the power is there when it's needed but isn't in-your-face at all times. That's what I'm looking for. Something that doesn't need to be rung out at all times. So far the only bikes that have my eye are the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone & V100 Mandello, the Triumph Bonneville T120 and the Indian Sport Chief. I'm aiming for something different that aren't commonly seen so one of those bikes are my goal. The only Japanese cruiser that's of interest to me is the Suzuki Boulevard M109 BOSS. Harley is absolutely out of the question. I don't want anything to do with them.

I've got a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero, and I ride the wheels off of that bike. I never had to do anything to it but put gas in it and roll. It never breaks down, and it averages around 50 to 53 Mi to the gallon. I've had 90 on the interstate many times Indiana go faster than that. The only reason I slow my roll is because I don't have a windshield, and I'm fairly wide. I've never pushed mine to 100 mph but I'm sure it'll do it. 75 is plenty fast enough. You can't beat it for reliability, and fuel economy. I wouldn't mind having a little better suspension. If you don't see a big bump coming or a pothole you going to be hurting but I've never had a cruiser that Bidwell on bumpy Terrain.

I have a 21 rebel1100 and I kinda wish it had some of the Shadow's DNA. The seat and exhaust on the shadow are miles beyond what the stock rebel has. Then again I still argue the rebel is supposed to be more of a naked metric sport cruiser and the Shadow is more of a traditional cruiser.

For sure! The Rebel is much more neo-retro styled using some styling cues from the bikes of yesteryear but maintaining modern touches to keep the new age buyers attracted and interested. I started on a Shadow 750. It's exactly what you describe. Just too small for me, so I went up to a Shadow 1100. The Phantom is starting to price itself out of the game. A Vulkan S is less money and is much, much quicker. If you want a bike with zero surprises and crazy dependability then this is good.

I like how they updated to disc rear brake. Will make maintinance easier i haye drum brakes. Disc brakes way eaiser to service.

I think any generation of the Shadow 750 is a worthy contender for someone's first motorcycle. The 1100 adds more power without adding too much additional weight, so if you are confident in yourself to handle the weight of the 750 you could step into the 1100 as a first bike. The decision is ultimately yours and you should buy the one you feel most confident about. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and ride safe. 😎

The 1100's have hydraulic valves that don't need adjusted. The chain drive 750's have dual carbs and kinda suck to remove to clean. The shaft drive 750's have a single carb setup and are a little easier to remove for cleaning. The dual carbs on the 1100's are also easier to remove then the chain drive 750's. All great bikes and I own all three so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto 3 ай бұрын
¡Hola Bolivia!

It wasn't something that jumped out to me while riding it, but it was present. Because of its V-Twin nature, there will be some vibration no matter what. It is tolerable but can have varying degrees from rider to rider. Gloves, grips, and bar style can all make tremendous differences in how much vibration you experience on any bike. Hope this helps! Sturdy, fast enough, totally reliable. Yeah just terrible. Seriously this thing will go fast enough to get you on the hiway when needed and do it forever. Its a really strong motorcycle. Undertuning a machine is not necessarily bad, these things are anvil reliable. I like the looks and it’s comfortable. I’ve been riding motorcycles for over 50 years and would definitely be ok to get one of these if I were in the market for a new bike. I have plenty of machinery for now though. The lack of techno controllers is a huge virtue on this bike. A tuner might find 10 more horses after a few years, but honestly 40 hp will do what you need if that doesn’t include racing or a few other things. Its fine. Just don’t look at the spec sheet, the bike rides fine and looks great from the riders seat.

Something is wrong with that shadow 750 it should do a little better than that...$10,000 and if it is like that they are ripping people off... come on Honda...

For $8,399 starting MSRP for the Phantom trim shown in the video, I feel the Shadow should come with a few more features on it to make it worth the asking price. It's not bad, but it isn't great. Thank you for watching and ride safe. 😎

I did some calculations, was this a better deal in 2003 when it was around $6000? You might think yes. But if you factor in inflation, a dollar in 2003 is about $1.71 in 2024. That means a 2003 shadow 750 cost over $10,000 of today's dollar in 2003. So with everything increasing in costs, this bike really haven't risen much in true cost.

@@conceptcs It's important to always consider inflation when looking at models through the years! Great comment and analysis. 👍
