I was just waiting for that involuntary whoop of joy at 26:25 🤣🤣 I knew it had to be coming. What a beautiful and fun riding area! I would love to come ride there some day. Thanks for showing us that and the change in ride after the ST work. I could see you getting more confidence in how the car works now as you rode more. I think the racers using live valve shocks are riding in comfort mode most of the time, and then quickly shifting to firmer as the terrain requires. Go firmer rather than slowing down and then back to plush. I could see the change in ride height easily. So now you have more ground clearance for rock crawling and rocks in the trails. I’m thrilled with the improvement to our 2019 XP4 with just the ST spring kit and anticipate loving it even more when the shocks need rebuilding and I get the RIS done at that time. Now looking forward to hearing Garrett’s review of his KRX after the ST RIS and springs. 👍😎

I can tell you the ST Ride Improvement System made a HUGE difference on my Talon X. Of course I had mine set up for rough trail riding which is 90% of what I do, so it leans a lot more in the corners than it did stock, but I'm not peeing blood when I get home from a day of trail riding! Vastly better for my kind of riding than the rebar factory suspension, in spite of Honda's poor suspension geometry design.

Great video! I purchased my Talon 1000X4 FLV in January of this year and I have got to say your videos have helped me make several choices on my machine. I live in St. George Utah and I would be extremely happy to meet up with you sometime. Thanks again for the time and effort you spend making these videos as they have helped many I'm sure.

I have a 2018 XP1000-4 and I put some shock therapy springs on it for a plush trail ride, what a difference! so much better. I also have a RS1, I took it out on Table mesa mountain trail off the 17 and it was terrible going slow. The jostling back and forth from hitting the rocks made me feel nauseous. My daughter lives in Glendale so we drove to Shock Therapy and I bought some springs for it for slow trail riding, much better now but not as plush as I want. So I purchased some Walker Evans sway bar shock links for it, Haven't had a chance to go out with them on it. I moving to AZ probably next month when my house closes escrow and will stay with my daughter in Glendale while looking for a house. I am going to make a appointment with Shock Therapy to get the RS1 re-valved to make it as plush as possible for trail riding. Thanks for the review, glad it made a good improvement.

I just got the spring kit. It gives up a little bit of the handling because of the extra body roll but it makes the ride a lot softer. I ride trails and the dunes. I think it’s worth the 650

Looking forward to getting Garrett's thoughts on ST on his KRX. Wish I were closer. I would love to be able to drive, or at least ride in it to compare it to mine with OEM. Just wish you guys had terrain that was a little more comparable to the rocky trails here in Colorado. Like you said, as good as the factory suspension is, and I think the KRX is king of that hill, there is always room for improvement. The hard part, as you found out, is trying to figure out the weight you carry. Solo or riding double (or more with the four seater), spare tire weight, other cargo weight, it all adds up and is calculated when they set up the valving and spring weights. A hundred pounds +/- can make a big difference in the setup, thus a big difference in the ride.

New ST springs made a big difference in my Talon R 2seater, now I just need to take it in and have the internals done!👍 Did you get the front shocks over extending after Shock Therapy service? It’s noticeable in my 2R, so my next thing I need to do is add limit straps up front.

Thanks for the review Joe. A 1000-4 FLV owner and enjoying every minute. I'm in Bullhead City and ride the Black Mountains a lot. Challenges galore and the trails are quite rocky and rough. If you're up this way hit me up. One non-related question, how does your windshield work in the heat? I've been considering but wonder about that. I don't want to invest for nothing. Dust in the cab, heat, etc.? Thanks for the info!
@DerangedOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
I’ve been really happy with the windshield. The vents open up wide and let a ton of air through. Hard to say with dust. I’ve had it on from close to the beginning and I have the door inserts as well. -Joe

Hey Joe. Once again this is a great video and helps out us other Talon FLV owners when we can see the products in action. I have purchased the windshield from your website. I do have an "off topic" question I am hoping you could answer. Have you had any issues with your transmission and/or shift cable? This seems to be a common issue talked about on many of the Talon forums and facebook.

I've been looking at new Talons. The fox live valve system looks (and feels) quite a bit better than the talons with the manual adjust valves. Of course, the cost reflects that. Your video has me wondering if it might be better to purchase a new 2019 or 2020 Talon for the savings and then have the shocks modified like you did. What are your thoughts on that?
@DerangedOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
It will be better after you send it to Shock Therapy or other shock work companies. The benefit of live valve is adjusting on the fly based one terrain and driver input or going from soft to stiff without having to get out of your car. It also comes with 2.5 shocks all around where the standard comes with 2.0 in front and 2.5 in rear. I’m a big fan of the Live Valve system but both are great cars. -Joe
