@@exeterrider yeah, am working unfortunately and not got any spare holiday, also was kind of expensive sleeping at that rave hotel I stopped at, so would want to find a cheaper place with a nicer bar near by for next time.

Lovely bike. I thought you were actually being quite brave there Exmouth and I don't think I would have fancied that rocky descent on my own bike, so I think you made the right call. I really think that the Transalp is the sweet spot for a decent all-round ADV bike. It has enough about it to be a decent tourer but still not lardy enough to be hard work on a trail. Get the luggage on that bike and it would very much be a "Norman Deluxe" !!! Ideal for touring, trailing or running the odd little errand. It is definitely a bike I would buy if I had the money to burn. Literally a "Norman Deluxe". So I guess that means that I am currently running "the poor man's Transalp". I think I can live with that ! Thanks for being brave and showing us that you can have fun with a Tra*ny, getting down and dirty behind the hedges. Take care Steve and love to the Exmouth crew. Antoine et Dec en France ! 🐕

Norman deluxe! that works, I reckon RE should bring out such a named bike. Its a lovely bike but if you had one the channel name would have to be changed. El outro to you and Ruby. Hope you all well : )

@@exeterrider Too true. Four figure priced bikes only on my channel, although 9999 EUR would be too expensive for me as well. Still, I get probably more fun out of my two cheap bikes as most people get out of one expensive bike. I reckon I'm doing it right Steve. Take care mate and love to the posse, Garry & Ruby

@@exeterrider Yes. It was great to see you so surprised by it, after you'd spent a bit more time with it. It really is all anybody needs to be able to get out and experience the joy of motorcycling. And it's cheap to buy and to run, making it accessible to many. If all future REs are rubbish, it doesn't matter to me. As long as they keep making these 350s they'll have me as a punter. Cheers Steve, have a fun day matey ! G&R

That was the good thing about the old ones. They may had just 50hp and not be highway monsters but gravel like this and bad abandoned roads and secondary roads, you are a king on them. Had 3 of them, even the very rare version of 400cc 94' /the same as 600 but smaller displacement/ .. But this one have nearly double the power of the original 600 and high 6th gear for highway cruising. I believe that the old ones had better weather protection for the knees and legs, the new one is naked on the side and on the bottom. I miss my old 400.. Loved that bike, but officially belonged to a dead man with number of heirs abroad and was impossible to sign it on my name.. So I get rid of it... 15 years ago.. Maybe was a mistake, don't know. The new CF moto 450 mt seams very very good too.

Hi Stefan, yes its pros and cons I guess with old and new. I do very much like the new one though. Its great to see Honda making a top notch machine again. The handling is superb!! I'm not a fan of CF Moto. A mate had one and it was constantly in the garage, 3 months wait for a rectifer as well. Another youtuber had the 800 and his camshaft has just split killing the engine! so for me they are over hyped, and now being part of KTM ....I'm not so sure

She's much better looking than the original version (in my opinion). Full marks for taking it on a bit of gravel to get the feel of its behaviour, I can get why you wouldnt want to try anything too gnarly, you wouldnt want to take it back with a long scuff up the side. 😊 TBF its probably a lot more manageable on the dirt than the A/T, certainly if my old 'un is anything to go by. Good bike, its got its work cut out to turn buyers away from the T7 mind. 👍

I hate the way KZbin removes my comments every time I refer to a Transalp as a Tr*nnie. My previous one went straight to the naughty step. Presumably this one will too. Anyway nice bike. Though you were quite brave to do what you did with a press bike mate.

7k klms on mine now. Just a couple of points... Those tyres are 80/20 at best. Essentially road tyres. A set of proper tyres, like Michelin Anakee Wild or similar transforms the bike off road. Front forks are okay once sag is set. Rear shock isn't brilliant. Actually.. that's too polite.... The rear shock is a POS. My GPX750R from 1985 had better damping control. Either re spring and re valve it, or replace it with something decent. It's truly shit. The throttle response you get used to. I have no complaints now. For standing up, the cockpit is too cramped. Bars too close and pegs too far forward. But reversing the bar risers and rotating the bars forward make it better. Not perfect, but doable. It's way better off road than reviews suggest. It's very well balanced and not top heavy which makes up for a little less clearance than some competitors. I've been doing stuff that some wouldn't take their enduro bike through and it's coped admirably. You of course can't attack stuff at the same speed you would on a CRF450, but take a little more time and it will get through most stuff. If you really must have cruise, Veridian do a plug and play kit which looks almost factory for $299 USD. It's also brilliant on fuel. 400klms to a tank minimum. 👍

So what would you buy if you were in the market Steve, this or the Honda NX500? 🤔 Both IMO as capable as the majority will ever need! 👍😎 Looked a perfect place to test it out, although i can see why you bottled it on the rocky part,as it's not your bike & that's nervy in itself! 😂👍

The Transalp is a fine machine, ER, but more road biased. Like all Euro 5 strangled bikes it has a snatchy throttle. Fitting a Booster Plug would solve that problem. I love the 20mph speed limit sign just after your river trip. Even the dumbest rider wouldn't go tearing along that lane. Or would they?

@@exeterrider You're better than me I struggle with both audio and video. Whatever was I thinking trying to produce talking vids from the back of a bike 😂 I only recently subbed to Saddlebags73 after his appearances on your channel. I do admire his ability to make a country lane in winter interesting, and then there's his dry humour. Thanks for the invite down, but I can't make it. I may be down to exeter in June, I'm not sure yet. I will have t modify my riding style, as I know from past experience that they don't put up with my nonsense down there. Best wishes to all on the ride 😂
