Honda Transmission solenoid check and cleaning

My 98 Honda civic was shifting hard in 2nd I took out solenoid it looked clean I sprayed it anyway and sprayed in the holes of the solenoid reinstalled the solenoid now it feels much better ! Saved lots of money thank you very much !

Helped me. Same thing on a 1st gen Honda CRV. I'll take it off and try it as it's a new Chinese solenoid I bought a few years ago. Trans shifting awful. Got a Torque Converter code on a tool, pulled the trans and replaced the torque converter. Still has the code and still shifts bad with over revs.

@@samuelortega6030 No. Tested the solenoid and it is fine. I think the transmission has had it. It's a used one so I'm looking for another used one.

when sent to the workshop..the mechanic told me to change a new gearbox or buy a hallfcut..if I have a lot of money .. I changed a new car instead of replacing the gearbox .. my car's gearbox is a problem when it starts moving yes..it's high rpm3000, I feel like the gearbox has a gear leak enter ..in my opinion, the gearbox is not a problem as the gearbox is normal when the car is moving fast..and there is no strange sound in the gearbox ..

Sorry yes was back in and the problem ended up being computer. Had a guy on eBay fix mine.

MarcoSanya Could be the brake switch behind the pedal. Check to see if a fuse is blown and that the brake lights illuminate when pressing the pedal. If the brake isn’t being sensed as you push it down, it’ll lock the gear shifter.

I think so man it's either this one or the other solenoid. Ones for 1st and 2nd gear control and the other one is supposedly for 3rd to 4th gear

What is the spray you used to clean the holes of the solenoid, is it a carb cleaner or a brake cleaner? Do you think i can use brake cleaner to spray the screens without swelling the rubber gasket?

Low viscosity brake fluid. This way it dries out.

I used brake clean. I prefer to use the low viscosity kind. This way I can put it back together and not worry about any leftover residue.

@@MoorAndMoreNetwork Hello, We have not ever figured out why the reverse will not engage. The car has been parked for nearly one year., but start and drive it a bit in forward gear. The engine runs perfectly and the transmission will shift all forward gears perfectly. Last year I put 20 quarts of Honda transmission to flush all the old transmission. cleaned the solenoids, replaced the solenoids, adjusted the shift linkage cable. Think there is a reverse gear on a shift lever that might be worn. I put about $1500 worth of other repairs on this car right before the transmission decided to not go into reverse. We changed timing belt, radiator, CV joints, hoses, belts, brakes and other stuff. Was fixing the car up as my son's first car. It is a real bummer. Had to buy him another car right away at that time to go to college. Will eventually swap the transmission for one out the junkyard. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks Steve
