I just got my 03 accord coupe v6 back from the shop, its been misfiring a while and they said i havw a bad cylinder no.2, he said probly need new motor, since mine has 246,000, but after seeing this video it almost makes me wonder??
@MrSamPhoenix2 жыл бұрын
Honda’s V6 design is robust. I’ve worked on them & they’re very easy to work on. A misfire is usually an indication of a bad ignition-coil. If it’s something worse that means the owner/user of the vehicle ignored the initial problem(s). But man, a chipped valve is unheard of!

I think this is a common problem with the j30a4. I’m dealing with misfire at cold startup and then runs smooth until the car gets warm. Then a random misfire at WOT. Pretty sure it’s a coil but I’m suspecting it needs a valve adjustment for cold startup misfire. Love the work environment!
@Rob-fx2dw5 жыл бұрын
To determine if valves area problem do a compression test dry first then add a little oil to the cylinder thru the spark plug hole and do he test again. If it increases greatly then it is rings - otherwise it is a valve problem for sure.

I have a 2000 Acura 3.2 liter, 97,000 miles on the clock....seems like the same issue....I checked the valve lash everything was on spec 0.3mm exhaust and 0..22 intake....then I discovered that the spark plugs were loose....tightened them to 18 ft pounds and three weeks later the same thing...tightened them to 25 foot pounds and checked to make sure there is a good ground connection to the motor from the battery...I have not had a relapse on this issue for the last 6 weeks....how do spark plugs become loose....??

I have an 04 with 149xxx the belt was replaced at 100k , only when I FLOOR it I get the multiple misfire code. I've replaced all plugs and coils and I thought it was fixed until a few weeks ago. Car drives perfectly fine and it doesn't feel like a misfire I just get the flashing light. Am I looking at possibly same issue?
@zachbento37983 жыл бұрын
Same happenes to me when going over 6k rpm check engine flashes and sometimes throws cylinder 1&5 misfire changed plugs coil still does it only whel flooring it did you ever find a solution?
@yt-user035612 жыл бұрын
@@zachbento3798 I had the same exact issue. My 04 has 119k and I did all the coils, plugs, timing belt and vavle adjustment only 10k ago and when I floor it until vtec engages the CEL flashes for about 10 seconds then stops. Scan tool showed 1 & 5 misfire + random but only as "Pending DCTs" but nothing in Permanent DCTs. Maybe it is just a glitch or I jumped timing for a split second? The engine runs and feels fine except when the I turn on the a/c then it feels a little rough. Could be mounts because they are aftermarket from Anchor. I also notice that once in a while it has a hard start/no start when it's cold which I thought was a flexplate issue. The car otherwise has been really good but in turn it makes it hard to chase these intermittent issues with less than obvious symptoms. I just don't want to wait until my cat completely fails or my engine blows up to do something about it. Still on the hunt for some answers to these problems.

+Aristotle2000 any of us who do timing belts alot have that story where the cam rotated and clunked. Eek. And u wonder if any damage got done. This belt was done probably 15000 miles before this happened. There was alot of carbon in the chambers. Honestly not sure if something held the valve open slightly long enough to burn it or it did have some detonation or ping.but he only pulled the one head. ,bought a valve on ebay or something . Drove it a few weeks til wife's new rav4 was ready . And I think it had a momentary misfire on one of the rear bank cylinders that went away. Makes me wonder if there are valve guide issues where they are too tight and start binding ? I have no good answer

Wondering if anyone can help me with my frustrating misfire in my 2008 acura 3.5l v6 172k. It only misfires when cold or sitting for a lil while. When it misfires it only lasts for 5 to 15 seconds then goes away. Things iv done: replaced all the spark plugs and coils. Replaced all the fuel injectors and did a valve adjustment. Cleaned egr and intake manifold. Put in new pcv valve and map sensor. Sometimes it will throw random misfire p0300 or just a #5 cly. misfire. Then some days it wont misfire at all. Im lost. Please help!!!!

Are u using coolant? Sounds like some head gasket issues I've seen where it seeps coolant into cylinder while cooling down . And itll misfire til the coolant is burned up and cleared from cylinder. I've proved this by pulling the plug on suspect cylinder and put a pressure tester on radiator and look down plug hole after time elapses.
@SonomaLow125 жыл бұрын

you said exh valve clearance was ok, i wonder what made the valve burn?
@jamesdanner78507 жыл бұрын
+halleffect1 it's only speculation but some were suggesting detonation from like cheap gas. Or if any of that excessive carbon in the first picture started glowing hot and ignited the fuel mix too soon so 2 flame fronts collided or it just flaked off and held the valve open a little.

i'd go with the carbon hanging the valve theory.
