This video will show you how to perform an oil change to your cruiser bike, It should work for the regular 4 stroke engine of any other cruiser out there. In my case, the Honda VTX 1300r

Why do people always over tighten the damn oil filter ? 1/2 turn after it touches Max !
@pneumaticnomad51225 жыл бұрын
I've been using the same technique, however if you get a lower drip pan, you can use a single piece of 2x6 in the back and another one for the kickstand, eliminating the whole scaffold ancient pyramid building in the back and your bike gets to sit a lot straighter so you empty a lot more efficiently. As a precaution, I wedge a 4x4 right under/across the front of the bike so the frame leans on it and makes it almost impossible to tip to the right. Works every time. Thanks for the vid though bud - Ride for Life!

oil filter way too tight , I install it hand tight , with clean paper towel

The VTX 1300 is not a 4 cylinder motor like you say at 17:25, it has a twin cylinder, (that means 2), 4 stroke motor. And a 5000 mile MINIMUM between oil changes? Don't you mean 5000 mile maximum?

Thank you amigo, my vtx is about due for an oil change and this'll help. I've done my share of oil changes but it always helps to know the amt/weight of oil, placement of bolts, etc.

Great video. Very helpful and informative. As for the comment about using clean oil to use on the O ring, it isn't that serious. Been doing that with my truck for 13 years and it has never done anything negative to it. Unless of course, you include dust and other large particles in it. I am definitely doing that this weekend to change my oil in my VTX. Thank brotha.

tighten a filter with a oil filter removal tool? never do that! wipe off old oil and remove oil filler cap/dip stick and wipe it clean also.

Great video man. I picked up a 04 vtx and wanted an oil change. The dealer where i live wanted $50 plus a 4 week wait. I'll just do it myself. Great idea instead of a lift too. If it's any consolation, I use dirty oil on my filter O-ring too ;)
@spanky5226 жыл бұрын
You would actually take your bike to a dealer to have the oil changed? Are you completely lazy or stupid? It's so easy you should be able to do it with your eyes closed after the first time.

Why are there two oil nuts at the same level of the oil pan ? What purpose does that serve
@spanky5225 жыл бұрын
There's a low spot by the second oil plug that doesn't get drained completely from the other plug, so they just put another plug there so you can get ALL the oil out. Some complain about why they put two drain plugs in, but Inver had a problem with it on mine. Just another plug to remove, no big deal.
@terrytak18768 жыл бұрын
Love the hard bags & color of your M/C., a little tedious on the actual oil & filter change, ccw to loose a nut really ? bit too elementary IMHO!

the filter states hand tight only yet you use your tool for removing the filter to tighten it. you wreck the oring by over tightening it. hand tight means hand tight car or bike. also you put new filter on then put contaminated oil on the filter seal. my god man, plz use common sense.

Umm they are under $200 at the store. If you have a bike and want to do DIY, then it is imperative to own one.
@knirb0110 жыл бұрын
I changed my oil by rolling my bike onto some blocks that cost $0. I'll get a lift if necessary but with everything costing close to $200 for motorcycles it gets expensive. Not everyone has money to spend
