You have 4 Bikes? That’s awesome. I envy you. I had to sell my 48’ Panhead to pay for my youngest daughter’s Funeral. It was a very sad time for our family. Not having my bike is torture. I bought it at a Police Auction in 1977 It was beautiful and I miss it. Riding settles my soul and not being able to ride is not fun. I can’t see my financial future allowing me to buy another bike and that makes it unbearable. I’m saving as much as I can but it’s not very much. The VTX 1300 is my choice to replace my 48’ I saw one that was so cool looking and it sounded great. Even what you paid for yours is more than I have at the moment. Stay safe, enjoy the road my friend. ✌️🇺🇸✌️🇺🇸😎

My '04 VTX 1300 burned up in a shed fire, so I went out and bought another one. I have an '06 1300 now and love it. It's identical to my other one. Of course I had to add handlebar risers, floorboards, crashbars, Viking bags, luggage rack and a passenger backrest, and it already had Cobra pipes on it so now I'm back in the saddle again!

05 VTX 1300 R, BEST BIKE I EVER OWNED!
@cbrippee Жыл бұрын
I just purchased an 07 1300 VTXR. I had a brand new 04 back from2006 t0 11. I wanted OEM pipes as I enjoy having a good stereo to listen to instead of muffler noise. I will either put on the Tsuyaku boox 1 or double boox fairing or steel horse st600 5.25 handlebar speaker with bluetooth amp system. My other bike is a 14 Victory Cross Country with terrific stereo, but am enjoying just the memphis shades windsheld on this new to me VTX, a whole different feeling, so probably go with the steel horse system. I get what you mean about the 140 tire, makes a world of difference, just feels so planted. In my Victory world a lot of riders love going to the 150 or 160 front tire over the oem 130 and now I know why. I had forgotten what great bikes this Honda 1300 is. I have had 2 yamaha v star 1300s tourer and deluxe, and to me this VTX is just more enjoyable to ride. I am impressed with the torque on it and how easy it is to push and plod around around now that I am in my upper 60s. I will do a seat upgrade this winter, Live in SW, OHio either the ultimate or taylored to my specifics at Mean City in NC. I did find a darn near perfect used set of Leatherlyke bags on ebay I just put on as previous owner had throw over dingy ones. The floorboards instead of pegs were already on it and only 2100 miles and 10 miles away - cabernet red. For folks reading this the VTX is truly a good and enjoyable bike to ride and of course Honda reliablility - I have owned 8 other Hondas. And it is American made in Marysville, OHio. Unfortunately Honda made a huge mistake shutting down production there in 09 or 10. I hear the 1300 FI motor they put into the 1300 VT line was really good, but the semi chopper style bikes never caught on as the American Chopper era had come to a close and of course the handling was not on par with the VTX line. They should have put me in charge. I would have kept the VTX stlye going,= but upgraded to the FI 1300 motor and made 3 different styles. 1. stipped down. 2. Tour model with windshield, floorboards and hardbags like they did with the Marysville designed Honda Valkyrie line. 3. Would have been a full fairing with audio instead of the windshield. I guarantee these would have sold 10 times the amount that the VT line did.

I have a VTX 1300 with about 80,000 and it still runs great. If you want to cure the cold nature of the bike just adjust the fuel to air ratio screw to make it a little less lean. They come way too lean from the factory to meet emission standards. It takes a special tool though to adjust the screw. A mechanic can do it or if you can get the special screwdriver you can do it yourself. Mine used to take 10 minutes to warm up before it would hardly run at all. Now it takes about a minute and a half and then I ride off ...although I don't ride it hard for about 5 minutes becuase I just don't believe it's good to ride a bike hard until the engine gets up to operating temp.

I have no issue riding before warming it up. Just pull your choke and start it. Push in the choke until it labors a little to idle. As soon as you get out on the road(5th gear) push the choke all the way in. Cruising RPM is enough to run with out problem. That's the way dad did it before fuel injection, and it works for me today.

@JS-lw2lu2 жыл бұрын
I've had 2 Vstar 1300's and had a love-hate relationship with both. Loved the looks, being very quick off the line, and well-engineered engine that will go countless miles. Hated the "oversquare" short-stroke pistons, although that does account for the fast takeoffs. Main thing I want in a cruiser is strong low-end torque and fairly low RPM's at highway speeds. That ain't a Vstar 1300, they're only happy in lower gears at slower speeds, and wind up high at 70. The other hate was something about the geometry, it's weird. Couldn't call it "top heavy" but they felt like they wanted to pitch over at slow speeds and coming to a stop. Only bike out of a dozen owned and thousands of miles that I ever dumped over in a parking lot, damn embarrasing.
@tgmotorider.narratinglifeo34802 жыл бұрын

This is nice. I have an 03 VTX1800R with Shinko tires. As ridiculous as it is, its my first bike. Couldn't pass up the amazing deal I got. Have you rode with shinkos? Can I ask your thoughts on them compared to the Michelin Commander 2s? Thank you for the video.
@tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480 Жыл бұрын
I’ve had Michelin commander 2, and Michelin commander threes and I’ve had three sets of shinko 777s. If you’re not gonna hammer your bike a lot, the shinkos will last you and they’re very sticky. The shinko 777s I put on my Vulcan nomad have lasted a long time. The 777‘s I put on my 1800 got about 5000 miles on the rear, and started looking bare. If you ride judiciously, they will last you longer than that. That being said, the Michelin commander two and three tires have a dual compound that is awesome in the rain. If you are going to do more all weather riding, I recommend the Michelin commanders over the shinko. Plus, the Michelin commander is a radial and not a bias, ply tire. So the Michelin commander will be less likely to puncture, but they are more expensive. That being said, I have had no problem with the three sets of shinko’s I’ve had. I hope it helps. Let me know how it turns out.
