I feel thst operator error causing damage. I replaced a Hyundai engine that had been damaged from a broken timing belt. When I took off the transmission, I also removed the torque converter even though it was not necessary to do that. When I put the torque converter back on, I did not seat it properly and so when I bolted it back on, it broke the engagement tabs on the transmission fluid pump. Car was able to drive for 10 miles. Thankfully a used transmission was fairly inexpensive and I was much faster the second time in pulling the engine a second time.
