All XR250's are single cylinder, this has two header pipes because it has two exhaust ports. And also by drilling into the spark arrestor plate it is just relieving back pressure.

If you take out the baffle, it'll be really loud. I'd say drill the baffle like this guy, and grind welds. I've also seen people drill holes in the exhaust tip itself. Either way, jet that bike, and don't be afraid of jets, they're easy : )

@NAMTRAMP he is not taking out the air filter the air filter is lower down. he is pulling out the snorkel witch will help if you were going in deep water, and the exhuast mod will relive back pressure. and thease bikes come really plugged up . i know this from exp. i have one.

@ollecarlsson Lots of people have good new bikes and then they have projects that they like to have. I want an older bike so I can learn how their engines work, etc. Plus, it gives me the chance to restore an old bike to new.

i brought a xr250r had no airbox lid. went to go trail riding with the boss, just the splash from a short tractor track completely drowned the bike. Lets just say im in the market for one of those so hang on to it lol

If you don't rejet your carb, you are sure to fry your engine by taking the baffle out and opening up the air box.

There are no twin cylinder XRs. You're probably looking at the exhaust, it just has two exhaust ports. All XRs are single cylinder

Hi i just bought a 1995 xr250 r and it is all stock. I want to remove the baffle so do i just remove the baffle and start riding the bike and not put i t back in or do i need to drill holes like this guy and put in back in? thanks.

1). Rejet... If your increasing your air flow increase your fuel... lots of help online. 2). When you take the snorkel out Insert a large oiled section of foam there so it prevents you from having to clean your air filter after every dusty/muddy ride. 3). If your going to do these mods for the reason of performance make sure you run 0% ethanol and the highest grade of octane. not doing so will result in over heating or bending valves...

robert duncan Rejet properly, and overheating will not be an issue. Of course, you can always run a leaner mixture, and put an oil cooler on the bike -- or even a big oil reservoir. They help with heat a lot.

Ringtail95 he forgot to put screen over it! Ya can also seal from the fender to the top of the air box as well.

My "completely stock" 90 XR250R runs extremely well the way it was designed. Spend the time wasted doing this shit by riding more. That helps going faster than un-necessary modifications. Honda designs motorcycles for a living. You don't.
