Honda XR650R Swingarm Axle Seized! A boozy removal guide for muppets.

You won't believe how it ends! Nah, just kidding, we manage to remove a very stubbornly stuck swingarm axle from a Honda XR650R in Kenya over a couple of beers and a few laughs. Warning: Strong language and weak moral fibre. Do not emulate what you see in this video. Not a guide at all. Performed by professional stunt muppets.

I have this same problem on my 1997 XR400r .. I trying smash pivot bolt with 2kg sledge hammer and rotate same time but no luck.. Drilling hole in the engine case was good idea, I try that next! thanx!

Nice video. Anything for a 650r. Mine wasn't that stuck. The air hammer and some lube got mine out and my bearings were still good.

I put a grease zert in.the same location where you drilled the hole in the engine case! Works well!

I'm getting ready to replace my swing arm bearings. With the zerk there will it grease the bearings?

@@jason-oh6qr well, not so much as the seals keep it from going out but, it does keep the corrosion down enough to help for those that don't pull the axle out annually

@@MrFlyingPanda try our drunken method first. Tap the swingarm bolt and build a puller. Get a friend on the other side with a hammer. The previous owner of my XRR had let the chain eat through the chain guard so far it went through the swingarm just above the pivot bolt. It rattled there and smashed the bearings shut basically. It was as seized as anything I've seen but we got it. Cut as a last resort I'd say! Good luck!

@@OsadabwaMoto Tearing down my XRR now to take out the rear shock to drill the hole. Already have a tap/bolt on hand that should work on the swingarm bolt. Any recommendations from keep it from happening?

@@jellomello124 Just regular maintenance. Coat it in waterproof grease or copper slip. If you're riding a lot, I'd service the swingarm axle and linkage once a year. It's a fairly easy job. I screwed up and didn't notice my linkage bearing was going and it ended up ruining the linkage... live and learn!

@@OsadabwaMoto If we ever cross paths I owe you a beer or six. Took a week of soaking with penetrating oil. A ton of hammering. Snapped my puller bolt inside the shaft. Finally hit it with an impact wrench to knock it loose from all the crud inside, then it started to slide out with the hammer. The swingarm bolt looked about twice as bad as yours in the video.
