Always knew this is the best kei-experience you can get from the 90's, only problem is they are so rare, thank you for the detailed review. It is actually been marketed as subcompact SUV back in the day.

I wonder if there would be a way to do an after market cold air intake like a K and N. In my H3, it added about 3 mpg to the beast they are. And it didn't sound strangled.

98 was such a good year for honda i have my 98 j30a1 accord even though its 90s its got all the creature comforts i need and ill have to do is maintain it and get a touchscreen and thats it

I agree I had a Honda that in the U.S. was called a "Coupe". The 600 c.c. engine that was a motorcycle engine and transmission package. It was awesome, and would still have kept except I needed a infant car seat. In 1986, a Honda trained mechanic rebuilt whole power train for 2600.00. Including rebuilding up some of case that was worn down by chain.

It was a car competing with Daihatsu's Terios Kid. Terios Kid has 5 doors and Honda Z has 3 doors. Both cars look so big that you wouldn't think they are Kei Cars.😄

The Z is still the best OVERALL. Has more speed than the life, beat and acty, good space like the kei van. And this one is way more comfortable, 4wd and newer and safer

Check out a 98 Alto Works RSZ if you want an AWD turbo car with manual. They really jazzed it up (like many kei cars) in 98.

@@Waybeforethefame Earlier ones were same F6A turbo if you got the DOHC version (it's hard to tell without popping the hood, look for a 2 in I believe the first digit of the chassis code). The 98+ were a K6A which was arguably better as it has a timing chain instead of a timing belt, so no worries about a 15 year old timing belt ready to blow.

@@Waybeforethefame oh okay. Be on the lookout for the Daihatsu Terios Kid and Suzuki Kei too. They're another two Kei cars from the late 90's that I would clump with the Pajero Mini, Jimny, and that Honda Z for being turbo, 4wd, and somewhat off-roady too.

Supposedly the Honda Z has been around since the 1970's. Sadly, they only come in automatic. They are based on the Honda Acty truck and modified for passenger use by adding safety features. here's the Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Z
