Honda Z600 - Walkaround and Drive

This is my 1972 Honda Z600. The chance to drive well-preserved and representative cars of the era is diminishing quickly, so I thought I'd share a first-person view.
This is one of only 918 cars produced in european specification. 600kg, 600cc, 36 PS, 7-8L/100km. First registered in May 1974 in the Canary Islands, the car spent its life there until importation to Greece in 2016. In 2000 it was garaged; until 2013, when a meticulous restoration began, to be completed in 2015 with the odometer showing 19'842 Km from new.
(Any jet pilots out there: I am checking the overhead panel switches before startup because we run the same engine :-)

My 1972 Z600 Coupe spent it's life in Indiana, USA where the winters were long and cold and snowy, and road salts caused severe corrosion. Indiana had a annual vehicle inspection law and after 8 years the corrosion caused large open rust area that were not allowed at the time and I was forced to stop driving it as I was in college. I love seeing videos like this. Thank you so much!

I owned a Z600 back in the mid 1970's and loved it. However they had one terrible design flaw. At that time I had to commute weekly nearly 200miles to Coventry in the UK and it rains a lot in the UK.

Had one in the seventies- video bought back all sorts of memories- taking two big adults and two kids with a couple of weeks luggage - really enjoyed the sound.

Had one from new and drove it around Northern Ireland. There was no speed limit then and was able to do 90 mph on a daily commute into Belfast - and that was with a limiter on the accelerator pedal! When driven carefully it was capable of over 100 miles to the gallon. A brilliant car!

Great little car, I still miss the one I had in the 70s. The rfof console woth aircraft style eyeball lights was very cool. You could clean the rear window and wind both front windows from the driver's seat.

We had one of those in a tow yard in Chicago years ago. I clearly recall being able to pick the rear of car right up off the ground by hand. Cool video and car.

I grew up up in one from age 4 to 7 or so, living in Japan. Must have been 1972 onwards. I loved the car, my mom as well. When she drove it into a ditch, people could just lift it up. I remember water coming into the back window, that had to be fixed. All in all, good memories. Enjoy your car............maybe I'll buy one some day just to relive those memories with my kids.
