Great video, I built my car myself, but can't tune it myself. I know the theory behind it, but i'm still learning from scratch. This was explained very well (thanks man!) I need someone to explain the timing buttons better. I believe it's degrees of cam shaft rotation? (Buttons on top of the fuel maps.) Intake cam I'm guessing. Guess setting base timing is key before its even started? Hmmm.....

Jason Huber thanks man. Im no pro but i try to figure out everything i can and dont mind sharing the knowledge some. Yes you are correct. The timing buttons on top of each map (ignition & fuel) is the cam advance on the intake cam. You tune each fuel and ignition table with the cam set in each of those positions. Then you adjust the cam table itself and the ecu basically rounds itself to which ever table is closest to the current cam advance the engine is seeing. Thats why tuning k series engines is much more time consuming. But if someone takes the time to tune everything right, its really good technology that can make decent power for a little 2 liter 4 banger.

So if I got bigger injectors and worked out how much bigger they were than my old injectors as a percentage, could I get away with just reducing the entire fuel output across the board by the difference in size percentage to give me the same performance as with my smaller injectors? For example if my fuel injectors were 25% larger, could I just reduce total fuel output by 25% to get my pre-upgrade performance as a baseline to tune from?

Devon Murray same principles apply just b series doesnt have VTC so there are not fuel maps for each cam angle. There is only a fuel low and fuel high map. So in reality its much easier and less tedious

Awsome video. I have a question so I hook up the laptop yesterday to my ek k20 swap. Its go the basic stuff. But on the display of the hondata said i was running 25.7 af ratio. Then I took out the plugs that were black. Any idea what it could be

Thanks this is great stuff. My car currently stalls at like 4k rpm. It has a hondata s300 My set up is h2b h23a b16 tranny, skunk 2 mani, itr throttle, 550cc injectors, walbro 255, try y header. My question is what basemap should I use while I get it dyno tune, should I add more fuel? Thanks I'm advance

Edgar Navarrete it all depends on what your air fuel ratios are if you need to add or subtract fuel

Pretty good video, do you have any tips for tuning spark tables? I understand fuel tables much more than i understand spark. I would at least like to make my own base. map for my car. Im on a turbo setup. And i do understand that you need lower ign timing for boosted applications.

If you dont know how to spell vtec correctly you probably shouldnt be touching ignition tables. They take a lot more skill and knowledge to tune. Vtec tuning requires a dyno to find the sweet spot

do your cam angles refer to the amount of advance in ignition timing? ex. cam angle of 40, you are at 40 degrees in ignition timing? or am I way off?

No cam angles is the actual angle the intake cam is advancing...cam angle and ignition timing is different

So ive been tuning and datalogging for quite some time. I have an fb6 with a short ram and a cat back. Im using the base map from hondata and adjusting their stock fuel table. My question is is that table close as far as partial throttle enough to use it to tune with? Also confused on timing. I have not touched my timing advance at all.

Can we add 5% at all rpm with no engine damage? Low cam and high cam?

DBLOCK OFFICIEL lol what are you asking? Every setup is different. 5% on 400cc injectors isnt the same as 5% on 1000cc injectors. So saying broadly will 5% damage my engine. Well adding fuel more than likely not unless it was so rich you were washing off the cylinder walls of oil. Running too lean will definitely damage your engine under the right conditions. But asking that broad of a question is almost a stupid question if you really think about it. But yes you can add or subtract what ever percent of fuel you want at any rpm you want. Thats why its setup as a table with an x and y axis. every engine and fuel setup is different.

What about adding air on idle. Cuz I have a ported rbc and a bigger throttle and I think I need more air on idle.

Kevin Iglesias well theres your first problem. Do you think or do you know? And if so how? But idle is closed loop. The ecu is adjusting on its own at idle and light throttle loads based of off the o2 sensor. So you can adjust idle fueling but your car should be idling just fine unless you are running a maf based tune

Nothing in my high fuel table is anywhere remotely close to 4000. Highest is 1098 and thats at 8900 rpm which is not going to be operated there. What do these numbers mean theres 800, 926 theres no way thats Air fuel ratio so what do these numbers mean??????

DBLOCK OFFICIEL what? You need a dyno to see a dyno graph. These graphs in this video are not dyno graphs they are graphs of the various engine parameters. This is hondata flashpro which yes plugs into the obd2 slot

lerlo lambda is just another way of viewing the parameter. Its still your air fuel ratio

lerlo ohhh noooo now i get what your saying. No the WOT lamba tables are different. I know if you mess with those (because it happened to me) you could possibly stay in closed loop mode. You adjust fueling by the fuel tables only. I thought you meant you were viewing the fuel tables in lambda values

Yeah, I read any AFR above 12.5 will bring it to stay in close loop mode. No idea whats it for then.

lerlo ya i messed with it one time and my ecu was adding like 20% fuel WOT meaning i was in closed loop and i was still running way lean. Once i fixed that table back it went back to being in open loop

marcosvega79 what are your specefic tuning questions. For one, tuning an engine that sees boost is different than tuning a naturally aspirated engine (turbocharged engines require a richer air fuel ratio than NA, and run less ignition timing that an NA setup.

This was painful. Many different numbers and things not mentioned. Like adding fuel brings the number down, what lambda is, where the fuel should be at each throttle position, rpm, etc Bad explaination

Kyle Teeter im not teaching people to tune. Thats something i know and all knowledge is not free (I am not a professional tuner) I made this awhile ago when i was even less knowledgable. The title is how to adjust fuel tables. The physical act of changing the values and pointing people in the right direction. Its just to get people started. The video is not to teach people how to tune. Its just a brief explanation for people who already have some idea of those things. I agree that somethings could have been worded/said better. But this was awhile ago and it was really made for a friend who knew that stuff, just they were not familiar with the software. Im not a tuner. I know my way around flashpro and was just helping people get started. If people do not know the things you listed they shouldn't really be messing with things.

I like to use 4th gear since its usually 1:1 but if your scared to top out 4th on the street and not get in trouble by the police, 3rd gear will suffice.

A҉n҉o҉n҉1҉3҉3҉7҉ 【X】 a high knock count. The knock sensor reading 1 knock is just noise. If a truck knock event occured it would ramp up like 27,53, knocks. Or multiple cylinders would read knock. 1 knock on 1 cylinder is just ghost knock/noise
