Welcome to Singapore, Hannah. Enjoy your adventure here! Check out the peranakan culture here. There are four main race groupings in singapore; Chinese, malay, Indians and others (tend to be mixed asian cum European races). The fifth grouping are the peranakans. Usually Chinese from .ainlamd China that emigrated to singapore several generations ago a d married the local malays; together they created a mixed culture of chinese and malay. They have their own unique language, dressing, furniture design, crockery, food, etc. Most peranakans don't speak Chinese. They tend to speak English and malay. You can read up about them in Google and visit the Peranakan Museum at Armenian Street. Have fun exploring. And I will be more than happy to help you settle in, if u need any assist. Welcome to Singapore!

I laughed when I heard about people wanting you to be friends with Georgia Caney just because she’s another Brit in Singapore. 😂 I think it’s a weird but nice instinct that people the world over have to help a foreigner get connected with someone else “from home”. I was recently in the UK for work and when Brits heard I was from Singapore, they offered to connect me with their Singaporean friends there as well. I like to think of it as something innate in human beings - we just want to make sure no one’s lonely even if they’re far from familiar shores.

I am the opposite and I don't mind the gloomy weather in the UK. Was there for 6 months and stayed at Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf. Absolutely miss the place. Yes, taxi in London are so expensive including the tube and after travelling to so many countries, we learnt to appreciate the cleanlness of our MRT station and the train cabins. I felt itchy when sitting on tube cabin's seat and told my friends in London why don't they change to plastic seats as they are easier to maintain but reason given is UK is using fabric seats due to the cold weather in UK but seats in New York are plastic seats too and they have pretty cold weather in winter too.

Glad to hear that you've settled in and have enjoyed your time here so far. The weather takes a few days of getting used to but once you do, you may never want to go back! Haha.. My husband was the same, he's from further north than you and he loves the weather here, despite the torrential rain! The rental market didn't use to be this way. It used to be cheaper but not at the moment. We're currently on our third rental, which is also our longest.. been staying at this property for nearly 13 years. It is a bit out of the way, but it's perfect for raising a family and it's quiet.

Welcome to Singapore, I recognized the multi-colour bridge near Potong Pasir area in the vlog. A regular running route from there down to Stadium and East Coast Park from there. Rent is expensive as hell right now. May mean a change to living more in the Heartlands rather than CBD areas. No need to use the oven, it's cheaper to buy from hawkers than buying ingredients to make meals. Lee from UK

Hello, new subcriber here. Singapore can be very hot n humid but i understand why u prefer the weather here than freezing UK because every 15mins you'll come across the mall or the public transport which is all AC, unless you'll b spending hours in the sun like when i was serving my army then its unbearable. Also only sometimes our temperature hits 35c usually 25-30c My advice is to do indoor activities(movies, window shopping, ice skating, library etc) between 12noon-4pm when its the hottest Hope u enjoy your stay🤍

LOL... 1) Wait till May to July... Where locals like me will be hiding inside the mall for the 'safety' of the Air-conditioning... 😅 2) Taxi is 'cheap' is only true when comparing with places like UK, Japan America or EU...🤗 3) Singapore is safe... But do remember what our boys in blue (Police) like to say... "Low Crime Doesn't Mean No Crime"... Still, be careful. If you are lucky... You might see wild Otters in the river... 4) Heard rental is crazy now... Because we are now open up... But yeah, its CRAZY now... 5) Singaporean are somewhat more reserve... which could easily give the impression that we are unfriendly or cold... But if you need help, directions or locations for examples... Do ask for it.... Most of us will not approach a 'strange' looking 'lost'... Unless the stranger ask for help. This happen because we do not want to intrude into your personal issue or moment... Anyway... Let's see how you feel about SG 3mths... 6mths... Maybe a year from now... Oh, borders are opening up.... The surrounding ASEAN nations are calling... Bali in Indonesia... Shopping in Bangkok... Food in Malaysia... Beaches in Philippines... So on and so forth... 🤗

Actually Singapore is more of a cleaned city rather than a clean city. It's because there are so many cheap foreign workers from Bangladesh etc who do manual labor like cleaning the streets, construction etc.
@SuccessforLifester2 жыл бұрын
Actually majority of people do not litter. The workers wouldn't be able to cope if majority of the people litter
@srx214 Жыл бұрын
The workers dont clean, sweep all the streets to keep them clean. The streets are clean because the people keep them clean except for some irresponsible people. The workers clean or rather clear the rubbish chutes and thrash bins in HDB flat and estate..
