I was invited to attend the opening night of the Funny Girl Broadway Tour at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville on January 2. The show honored the original while still dazzling modern audiences.
But the real star of the show was the female lead as Fanny Brice. She showed incredible power and restraint, sometimes simultaneously.
The tap dancing was a real treat as well.

Katerina really blows this role out of the water, even better than the Broadway leads. Her voice is so unique and classic, something this show begs for but we don’t get with Lea Michele or Julie Benko. You’re right about the male lead, his voice just didn’t work for me. Katerina’s voice just dominates the entire time. They needed someone vocally stronger for Arnstein.

Agree. She was like the best modern singer I may have ever seen sining this style of music. She is a complete natural. I also got to see her understudy Hannah Shenkman do it and she was also up there - incredible. Can easily say both these ladies were better than the leading ladies on Broadway
